  • Anyone looking to sell their Deering at all? Im inspired after seeing this!

  • Well played hilly billy

  • I have a Black Diamond also. Hope I can one day make mine sound as good as you made this one sound! By the way, I'm a leftie and play right hand guitar and banjo without any problem.

  • sounded really lovely

  • tutoural make one i need to learn

  • How much are your rates. Im 16 and ive been playing the guitar and mandolin for about 6 years, but it seems as though i have plateaued, which isn't good. I was just wanting to get an idea on how much a music teacher would cost me, and would you recommend it.

  • i like to pick that one too

  • Hi Jon, very nice playing! Clean notes and very nice note selection. And most of all, great attitude! Picksa5string

  • Hi Jon, I also have a Deering banjo, and I was wondering about the brand and gauge of the strings that your student uses on her Deering Black Diamond. That banjo really sounds great!

  • The Brand is D'Addario J-60's

They are the nickel light guage.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hardy, Henry, -- It's on of those "John" tunes . . .

great sounding Deering -- I have a 1991 Deluxe and it eats Mastertones for breakfast.

  • Jon that is amazing playing. Hope with all the practising I am doing I can get to half as good as you. Incidently I got a left handed banjo at christmas from a company called OSARK. It isn't exacly the best but good for beginners, not all that expensive either. Keep posting mate, I can't get enough. Colin Scotland.

  • Can a left hander learn to pick a banjo?

  • @kittyat6

Yes, of course, and you can buy a left-handed banjo, but they can be harder to find. I hope that helps you.

  • 88- thanks f'or holding the fort while I am "on tour"...

Kittyat6- absolutely! Therearemany banjo builders than can make one for the left hand- (my brother who is a lefty, learned on a RIGHT handed instrument). Let me know if there is any more help you need.

    Banjoistically yours,

    Jon Eric

  • great picking jon,i see you like those tight heads, that banjo sounds like you are driving nail with a 30-o -6 rifle,

  • Wow

Great pickin and unreal sound from the Deering. Watch out Mastertone!

  • Great picking, I have trouble in keeping my picking fingers close to the strings, especially the index finger so that I tend to miss a string now and then, and may I say that you have the look of Lee Van Cleefe, movie gunslinger.

  • Sounds as big and bright as my Leo... Great pickin". Thanks.

  • Jon, I've been playing for 15 months, an hour a day, every day, religiously. I've been playing guitar for 25 years and the banjo is SO much more challenging. Whenever I feel like giving up, I always watch you playing and it inspires me to move on, pick up a lick or two, and get that 0.01% better each day. Thank You!

  • I think people that start playing guitar have a really tough time transitioning but people like me who just pick up banjo learn it easier. I dont think its very hard, although im nowhere near as close to this level of playing.

  • Consider me subscribed! A fine performance.

  • The best. GREAT MAESTRO.

  • Really fine pickn and what a great sound from that banjar!

  • Great as always jon.

  • Awesome! If you don`t mind someday, could you play lonesome banjo blues.

As far as i know it`s a doc watson tune.

    Thanks!

  • no i think its Jerry Reed..............unless he did a cover for it.

  • Excelent!

  • whoa, beautiful instrument!!! mighty fine pickin ;)
