  • nice on side

  • learn hockey..that was onside as along as you have control, which he did, hell you can even skate backwards over the blue line as long as you have control of the puck

  • that's right...it's an on-side goal...nice shot too.

  • so offside

  • Uk can't play hockey.....they couldn't even beat Romania if they played against them....i wonder how would they do against Kazakhstan or Ukraine...probably a 5-0 loss...

  • you dont really know...there are alot of good players in the uk ranging from allages that could really go somwhere, and the gb juniors have played teams liek Kazakhstan or Ukraine

  • Trust me man...UK is 30-40 years behind in the hockey world, UK is a mighty nation of soccer, olympic sports, economic wealth, royalty...but when it comes to hockey...Russia would make their team wish they never were born......heck even Slovakia can do that....the day a British guy makes the NHL and scores 20 goals and has atleast 10 assists......i will recognize the UK as a hockey team

  • youd be surpriesed tho how good some players actually are.. any way yeah not saying we could beat russia or anyone liek that but romania yeah easy and beaten kazakstan i knwo that

  • maybe Juniors, not first team...but Romania, maybe a draw, but not beat...cause Romania plays in second division or something like that...UK plays what? 3rd?

  • second now i think im not sure, yeah i know seniors....but juniors do play teams liek kasakstasn and romania and beat them...sorry thats what i meant juniors

  • Yeh i mean Antropov alone would score over 5 goals against UK lol....or Varlamov of Ukraine......but any ways its great to see hockey anywhere in the world, i hope it advances but the English love alcohol more then the Russians...and the Russian players are straight up drinkers...so im imagining how often the English players drink..thats a no no for the game..if he Russians stop drinking they would play 10 times better.

  • He was offside lol.

  • If you are in control of the puck, your body can cross the blue line before the puck

  • Wrong

  • Not Wrong, read the rule book

    From NHL rule book

    NHL Rule - 83.1 Off-side

A player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered off-side, provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the blue line.

  • Very well said.

  • it's uk, the refs can't spot offsides over there

  • This is a part of the off-side rule that alot of people that watch and play hockey don't understand for some reason.

  • @BuiltEnvironment

Yes, because Belfast Giants are an NHL team

  • Thats not true...a player can put himself offside even if he has control of the puck...for example if a player skating with the puck loses control of the puck and pulls the puck across the line after booth his skates have crossed the line it is offside.. the puck MUST cross the blue line first no matter what.

  • interesting...i wonder if this rule has changed over time because when i was reffing CAHA 25 years ago this was not the case...

  • Not sure when it came in. I didn't know this to be the case either until I took a USA hockey coaching course about 15 years ago in Denver. It is a little exception in the off-side rule that a lot of people that play and watch hockey don't seem to know about.

  • well it's not nhl is it?

  • Considering Theo was not called off-side on the play it should be easy to conclude that the rule is the same in the UK....I don't have a UK rule book laying around

  • His right skate is across the blue line.He is offsides. The puck is about a foot behind him.

  • hes not offside

  • He is bloody talented, what a quick shot! Looks like Marian Gaborik.

  • wow- offsides a bit! (0:08)

  • nah he had possession. what a shot tho!

  • the pass to fluery was really good

  • Belfast Giants are The Best Obv

  • thats a pretty hard call to make from a blurry U-Tube video, but it you stop it at 0:08 it looks like his trailing skate is over the blue line by a foot while the puck is just starting to come over the blue line. The puck goes in before the player or at least simultaneously as the player (the latter takes alot of experience to call). That one should've been called offside I think. Nice goal though.

  • The puck can be on the line, legally, and it will still be onside. However in this scenario the call could have gone either way with understandable arguments on each side.

  • @Faggotbitchfuck He's onside. Blowing it down for offside would be the wrong call, and you couldn't argue in favour of it.

  • This is definitely onside.

On another note, did you know that if you are in control of the puck you can skate over the blue line backwards and not be called offside.

  • his left skate is still on the blue line when the puck touches the blue line.

it's very close but it was legit, despite what i originally thought. if you watch it again at full speed you see he slows down a bit and drags his skate to pull it off.

  • with a quick look it seems offside, but looking in slowmotion it is very obvious that it is not offside, so a perfect goal.

  • He was onside easily, he was in control of the puck when his trailing leg was on the line. How is that offside?

  • technically even if he is in control of it and he crosses the line before the puck its still offsides but he got the puck across before his skate so it was onside... and holy crap he sniped the shit out of that goalie!

  • He was offside.

But he's way too awesome to call it.

  • fleury played better on yay, gave him the advantage he needed, no wonder he isn't in the nhl anymore after he went to rehab

  • too bad he got problems with alcohol... he would been a hall of famer...

  • freeze at 00:07 see for yourself

  • gotta agree offside.

  • It wasnt offside you twat. If you look his trailing leg is still on the blue line, even though his front striding leg is over it, when he recieves the puck. result? ONSIDE leading to a fantastic finish and a perfectly legal goal.

Brush up on your rules matey. *rolls eyes*.

ps: I was at the game sitting right inline with the blueline. Was fantastic to see the whole move live.

  • OFFFSIIIIDE!!!!

    way offside

linesmen cant see in britain or what?

    this aint football

  • obviously not, before u cherp britain learn the rules u plug u can go in before the puck as long as u have full control

  • haha before you chirp learn the rules... the puck has to be the first thing over the line no matter what even if you do have control so.... yea maybe you should learn the rules? o and trust me on this one im a player and a ref and a coach... i think i would know... lates

  • ok man seriously u cant be a very good player or coach and wow i hope u never ref one of my games because u are a retard if u think those are the rules seriously! but dont worry we all have sypathy for people like you!

  • man u are such a retard!

  • @ziggythepenguin22 You're wrong. He is onside, a player's skates can cross the blue line before the puck providing he is in control of the puck.

  • what a looser! u dont know the rules! u can go in backwards aslong as u have full control of the puck sort your life out!

  • No you can't

  • i cant beleive ive gone too all this trouble too prove u wrong..

    Puck position:

Note that the puck must enter the attacking zone for an offside call to be made; a player being over the line does not result in an offside call until the puck crosses the line, and that a player cannot put himself offside, such as by carrying the puck in while skating backwards.Note: A player controlling the puck can have his two skates cross the blue

  • " played for 11 years" that doesnt include pickup hockey bud the rest of the rule wouldnt fit in but search it google or anything you want..... your an embaressment!

  • But surely then that would make any puck carrier going backwards (for one reason or another :S ) offside? As far as i can see, he has posession of the puck taking it into the zone therefore I wouldn't have called it.

And that backpass by Courtenay was just awesome - he didnt even look!

  • i really dont care

  • Comment removed

  • I REALLY DONT GIVE A FUCK !

and who do ref then ? reck hockey hahahahaha

  • hahaha, YOU'RE THE FUCKING RETARD! BITCH!
