  • I love the Rosenberg Trio. Check out their version of Black Eyes. They are fantastic together. The bass player and rhythm are brothers and Stochello is their cousin if I'm not mistaken.

  • favorite note... 0:25

  • Yeah critizising is for free............:) . Stochelo is one of the best manouche players out there, and sorry I find some of the comments hilarious. Yes being a bedroom player means you have a lot of spare time, but maybe you'd be better off practising your scales or playing live ,rather than spotting mistakes from others (specially if we are talking about one of the greatest manouche players ever XD)

  • @MalcaratMartinez

    Well said...

  • Can anyone tell me where the music parts from 2:10 to 2:15 come from? Sounds Spanish or Mexican in origin... really cool part to an otherwise amazing performance I feel.

  • Perfect Virtoso!!!

  • From 1.07 to 1.56 it is a copy, almost note for note, of Djangos solo.

    Done wonderfully by Stochelo.

Why are so many on here worried about mistakes?

A guitar player is not a machine.

This is not someone like Yngie practicing scales onstage!

Les Paul said "If i want to hear perfect rhythmic precision i'd turn on my washing machine"

Joe Pass said "We all make mistakes, just keep going.. it's what you say AFTER the mistake that makes up for it."

  • great

  • Long live French Swing!

  • @oberlepa

Not that it is of great importance, but these guys are Dutch.

  • @gr0mithtimon Good to know. Actually I was referring to the type of music, which I should have called 'Gypsy Jazz'. Whatever the case, I love these guys, and could listen to them all day.

  • WOW Stochelo looks so young here! And DAMN he sure can play. I really think Django would flip over this rendition of one of his classic tunes. So much soul, so much virtuosity, and yeah, I agree with who ever said "Take that Yngwie! Let's hear you play this one . . "

  • Flawless...got to be the closest to Django there is...

    5/5*

  • I absolutely adore stochelo but he messed up at 0:36, but the overal quality more than makes up for that mistake

  • @superultramegamighty

Anyone who can criticize Mr Rosenburg must be amazing! I'll have to check out your channel...oh...just did...never mind...

  • @wooddragon45 hey man you are right... But I was just overcome by jealousy and selfhatred when I saw this guy make everything look so easy.. You should never have given me this attention though.. You shouldve just ignored this lame comment of mine it shouldnt be worth your attention.. Thats what dumb comments are for... To be ignored ..But I will apologize if you misinterpreted my jealousy for shear ignorance..

  • @superultramegamighty You should retract that comment if you are remorseful.

I wrote the previous comment before reading your admission of guilt. I'm happy you repented because this guy is amazing. I will retract mine if you retract the critical comment.

  • @KABRIS1 I think its rediculous to state that a person has to be an amazing guitarist to hear when someone slips up.. If anyone knows about slipups it would be me... But I agree that there is no reason for me to point out the negative... But just because I did doesnt mean that I think I could do a better job.. and most come with no arguments as to why Im not allowed to criticize.. other than "hes amazing. shut up!" If you are able to truly explain the noise than Il retract and shut up..

  • @KABRIS1 Dont get me wrong Im not saying that you said that I have to be amazing in order to be able to criticize, because you didnt... and if you read my original comment I actually say that I dont even mind "the noise" since he played the rest of the song so well... Its not that Im hatin on stochello.. I was mearly pointing out that he is human too.. even though stochello does sometimes seem to be from a totally different world

  • @superultramegamighty There was no need to point it out. It was noise, not a wrong note. He played a burning lick right afterword. This sounds like a comment motivated by jealousy.

  • @superultramegamighty I wouldn't call that a mess up.

  • @KABRIS1 I wouldnt call that an argument

  • @superultramegamighty It was his left finger pulling off the string. It was not a wrong note. You are being very anal by pointing this out. It's concentrating on the most miniscual, negative thing anyone could comment on, rather than commenting on something positive, like his immense talent!

  • @superultramegamighty

even virtuoso are allowed slipups, doesn't matter...

back in 1994 Stochelo was still merely copying Django note for note, nowadays luckily he's developed his own style and licks.North Sea Jazz Festival is one of the highest rated festivals in the world and you can clearly tell that they were very nervous, with good reason....

  • @duanecoakes even a virtouso if not especially virtuosi should be allowed to be criticized upon. Even though I will never in a million years ever be able to come any where near what this guy was playing when he was 12 let alone come near anything hes playing now, a slip up is still a slip up. I dont understand why I am getting this much attention, wouldnt it be easier to just ignore my jealousy rather thn wasting your time on acting like the same smartass Im pretending to be?

  • @superultramegamighty

I've been a semi-professional guitarist for more than 20 years and I've learned that there's so much more pleasure in ignoring tiny mistakes in live music rather than painstakingly look for them.Do you watch movies with the same critical eye?To see if a roman soldier forgot to take off his watch? If you know you are trying to be a smartass that's even more sad

  • @duanecoakes We all get pleasure from diffirent things. You by ignoring tiny mistakes, me by havin quasi intelligent discussions You might think Im sad for beeing honest about myself. But atleast Im able to accept our diffirences without acting like am fit to judge you. Im not looking for mistakes I just happened notice this one. I dont even mind the slip up that much. I mind that people like you are trying to tell me Im wrong for pointing it out. If I wasnt as critical as i am Id be a bieberfan

  • @duanecoakes Yes, it seems that some are impressed with guitarists who practise scales and get applause.

If we go into any music shop we see 13 yr old kids shredding, note for note perfect BUT no feeling. No authenticism.

There's a 12 yr old kid in my area who plays guitar with gloves on!

What for? What is there to prove?

Django did it all with two fingers and open wounds on his left hand.

  • @duanecoakes Hah! Try telling your philosophy to Andres Segovia! He would laugh in your face, man. Nigga was ALL about perfection. And he fucking got it

  • @Josephdorf03 nigga?!?!

  • I'd hate to be one of the poor schmucks sitting behind them!

  • well judging from the way he's bending i would say metal

  • are the strings all nylon or are the E A and D strings wound with some kind of metal.

  • to caranauba:it's not nylon,it's a standard acoustic gypsy strings pack, all steel strings, they are silver wounded except the 1st(E) and the 2nd(B),like most of standard acoustic,(whereas there are mostly bronze wound on acoustic guitar to play Folk or pop music, you notice the difference by the colour of it,and the tone)

  • All metal it's Argentine strings

  • its a steel string. no nylon involved.

  • there are not expresion?, is Stochelo bitches!, enjoy it, put away your prejuices. this sounds good.

  • Nothing to do with Django, though I agree with vanbaarm. Just going through the motions on an old standard. Hey, these guys tour non-stop (Gypsies!)! Hard to be inspired every single day!

  • what did django want to say

  • Django's song was "nuage"and how django played it'was like a "nuage"or a cloud if you prefere but with rosenberg i don't see a cloud ...

  • Comment removed

  • The " nuages " are made with the rythm guitar and the bass :)

  • Lies, Nuages doesn't have be slow. It's about the sky, and they sky is always changing, whether its calm or its a storm.

  • Maybe but when django played it was very calm ...Hear the django's version and you will see but it's normal some people prefer the version.

  • @IntellDevice

    nuages=clouds

but he can play how he likes, ill listen.

  • @IntellDevice

It sounds great played as a steady Bossa too. Take my word for it.

    MC

  • The BEST what can i say....!!!!

  • mi fai tornare indietro nel tempo....il trio santo subito. Grazie

  • Gypsies blow "shredders" out of the water, even though gypsy music and metal are under 2 different categories

  • @slinkyballs06 Ignorant comment. All musicians are great if they feel what theyre playing. Metal, Gypsy Jazz, Latin Rock, whatever it is

  • Stochelo would make django proud, for sure

  • Excellent!!! Thanks for posting:)

    Grandma mary

  • awesome just wish he'ld spend alittle more time phrasing

  • Django truely was a genious

  • is this improvisation?

  • yes

  • Crazy fool!

  • How on earth did Django do that solo with 2 fingers!

  • i thought i saw a third in there too... but whatever

  • Ongeloofelijk...

  • Amazing!!! Bravo!!! virtuosic *and* with feel

  • A little too virtuosic and fast for me. I like the music to breathe a little more.

  • best Nuages' version

  • bravo!!!!!!

  • That chromatic line at 0:20 and 0:24 is just ridiculous. Wish I could wrap my head around the techniques that manouche requires.

  • Type "Romane Gipsy jazz guitar" in You tube. You'll find a pretty good explanation of the basic techniques of Manouche jazz guitar (chord progressions and soloing). In particular, Romane explains that chromatic line. (Not that I'll ever be able to do the same but it's interesting to know how it works). In French with English subtitles. (Definitely NOT for guitar newbies though).

  • thank you so much!!!

  • The ending is so sweat.

  • sweet

  • one criticism i will make of stochelo is that he pre-learns his solos so it ind of takes away from the whole jazz ideology.....although im sure that he does improv some of the time, if you listen to his solos on youtube (and for that matter on his albums) they are all relatively "the same." Of course there are variations but yeah.......

  • Stochelo plays a lot of "set pieces" in that everything is rehearsed and perfected in order to achieve a clean sound, not to mention a virtuosos quality. Almost all of his notes carry the same weight...he's very articulate and precise. Bireli on the other hand, or Wes Montgomery, is a true master of improvisation and the embodiment of creativity, but he doesn't always articulate every note and I find his playing a bit choppy and not so easy on the ears at times.

  • Couldn't agree more. Stochelo is more like a classical guitar player. At home he writes the most beautiful solo's and perfect it.

  • Actually quite a few jazz players write out their solos and then improvise over what they've written, it helps to ensure that your solos are clunker-free, chick corea wrote this essay about it the title of which i forget, i think it's like "On Improvising" or something

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

After hearing ROsenberg, I broke my guitar in two...

  • stochelo is my favorite accoustic guitarist because of his gorgeous, singing tone. but this rendition of "nuages" --- just off the charts. bravo

  • Superb!

  • take that Yngwie!! huh?!! how bout a little o that shit for ya huh?!!!!!

disclaimer: just kidding dont froth at the mouth and start flaming.

  • Bireli Lagrene is way too big for this trio, although Rosenberg is an amazing player, Bireli is from another planet, astounding player.

  • this is guitar perfection it cant possibly be better than this! I can't even imagine a better performed solo in this genre

  • fantastic!! full of european character

  • Stochelo rosenberg? THE BEST #1 :)

  • Stochelo plays it well the best Django version too!! But he left out a real cool part of the solo.

  • It's so relaxing

  • So much taste. Jimmy Rosenberg and those guys have the speed, but it can be tacky at times. Thank God for the Rosenberg Trio.

  • not just impressing, but sweet as chocolate with sharp as chili - with bits of strawberry. wonderfull:-)

  • Great rememberings, The Gipsy Boys with Kaathe Rosenberg (solo guitar),Falko Reinhardt (rhythm guitar) and Sani van Mullem were amazing guests of Stochelo, Nonnie and Nous´sche Rosenberg in the Tuinpaviljoen on Friday, July 8th at 21.30 pm.

  • Holy Christ........that bought tears to my eyes. What an amazing performance.

  • WOW!!! That is truly amazing. I felt that Django was there. Such chops are clearly super normal and are simply GIANT.

Thank you so much for playing!!!

    AND thanks for posting it!
