Best, most informative movie ever! Thanks sooo much for getting everyone hip! Love and much appriciation to The Funk Brothers. Special shout out to Mr. Ashford. :)
I was really hoping to see Joan Osborne sing this one. Did you see that short piece with the Funk Brothers? What a loss switching to Ben Harper for this song. Joan had it pinned down in 5 seconds.
Jr Walker sings the original Motown released version but on this Standing in the Shadows or Motown, Gerald Levert is singing it, who's father is Eddie Levert, the lead singer for the group The O'Jays.

Is there any chance you could post the end when the surviving funk brothers give their respects to the ones that have passed away before Montell's and Chaka's duet?
MOTOWN'S FUNK BROTHERS were Giants Of Music. Without them the MOTOWN-SOUND wasn't as magical as it was!
By the way ... today MOTOWN ist timeless and a new generations of music-lovers find out where all the "Amy Winehouse- and James Morrison-Sounds came from.
Joan Osbourne should have been given this tune too. Ben Harper is even under pitch intermittently through the whole tune.
Maybe his monitor wasn't working or balanced right for him.
The Funk Brothers of course are great on "Shotgun".... And Tom Scott always fabulous. I wish Joan would do Grapevine. I've heard she had a Motown CD but haven't had the time to invetigate...must do that soon.
Best DVD I've seen in my life... should be shown in every schools to teach how important and precious those musicians are.
