Here's a small suggestion. In the beginning, you have all these pictures.

And I know its photography based, but it could be nice, if you used a slight hint of panning, or zooming. This way, you wouldn't need any NPC stuff, but it helps to remove the "static" feel.

I hope that made sense.

Thought it up over a month, a week of late nights and several bad experiences with Windows Movie Maker, I'm glad I lived through it.
