  • Robert Dinero und Maryl Steep, Meister der alten Schule!

  • Are you talkin' to me?

  • That was incredible and moving! You feel the sincerity of the words as he said them and could see how genuninely moved Meryl was. <3

  • were they ever in love? i felt like they were lovers once.

  • They're both so amazing that sometimes i think they should just get married with each other

  • where is al pacino??

  • is she diez?

  • 12 people dont know what LOVE means

  • Wow, you can see by Meryl's expressions that she totally respects DeNiro and Nicholson

  • "They say geniuses pick green.............but you didnt pick it" best line ever imo

  • Very nice speech that was sincerely given.

  • DeNiro is generally taciturn, and takes the craft of acting as seriously as anyone, so you know that everything he said to her and about her was 1000% sincere

  • Everybodies mother

  • @afi please upload Jim Carrey's speach because the only version available on youtube is a really low quality. thanks

  • The song that was played at the begining was the anthem of communists in Soviet Union.

  • @meylisINTP wow if this is true then that was a big fail by @AFI looooool

  • I always thought that Robert & Meryl would be a truly beautiful couple,

I think of them as suited to one another In every aspect both Professionally or talent, & non-professionally or personality.

They are both the finest examples of how true Actors, In their own class Male & Female & this video just shows that a Man & Woman can connect & love each other in ways they probably never could if they were in an intimate relationship.

Which I suppose Is why we all Love them just the way they are.

  • @ProjectE1even well said

  • @tamerswan Yes its The Irishman

  • I love Robert spanish-translation-for-money!

  • why do they use USSR song at the beginning lol

  • @letuhieuthien because that's from the soundtrack of the dear hunter.

  • Robert De Niro.....Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Once Upon A Time In America, Good Fellas, Heat and off course looking forward to see the new masterpiece from Scorsese with him Pacino and Pesci....

  • @saqibk1 also you forgot his performance in GODFATHER PART 2 AND THE DEER HUNTER

  • @Gaston088able All those movies are great of course, but I'm also a huge fan of midnight run- probably at the bottom of a lot of lists but it makes me laugh every time. "heres two words for you: shut the f*ck up!" grodin does a great job in that movie too

  • hey i saw De Niro with a White Woman last week..

  • Dude, this is the most famous and most celebrated actor of the last 30 years. Spell his fucking name right...Dinero? WTF is that???

  • @Muherdon Actually that would be Johnny Depp. Who is twice as good as De Niro. 30 years before that was Marlon Brando. de niro and al pacino are depps and brandos ass.

  • @gaurav1221 idiot, have some respect

Johnny depp makes a lot of shitty movies.

  • Robert Dinero???????

  • @rogeliosarambeta your either a immigrant or live under a rock if you dont know who robert de niro is

  • @GoinBaCk2JeRzEy Before you insult me, read the description of the video and see that "Robert Dinero". Of course I know Robert De Niro, I think that that's you moron! Bye.

  • 2 of the greatest people in one room!!

  • Wow how amazing for Robert De Niro to honour you and your work, amazing I love Meryl Streep

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERYL STREEP ..

  • julie andrews twin?

  • Nobody but De Niro could have been so sincere in his expressiveness and nobody but Meryl could have been so deserving and appreciative.

  • @halnwheels DeNiro is a man of few words and hates bullshit. He would only do this for someone he truly had great respect for. And obviously he doesn't go on and on it's straight to the point. When you see his commemoration the year before watch his face when Kietel gets introduced to speak about him (meaning DeNiro). You see a real genuine smile and pure respect.

  • LOL Actors paying tribute and praising other actors. How special! After all, they are the people in our society who do the most for all of us. They are the people who PRETEND to be other people. What would we do without them. lolol

  • @TomWeiss0 wow you're so insightful on the art of acting, you should write books!

  • @TomWeiss0 Haha ... I agree it's cringeworthy to watch. Oh daaaarling, you're so wonderful daaaarling .... of puhleeease, give us all a break. Go home and kiss the mirror or something!! :) On a side note, despite this nauseating display, De Niro and Meryl Streep truly are amazing actors!

  • who's the guy clapping at 0:55?

  • @messyalex looks like ron howard but i doubt it

  • @messyalex

looks like a mix of donnie walhberg and mickey rourke

  • What a greeat moment!

  • Its really hard to see how genuine these actors are because they are somewhat detached emotionally to play their characters but they can also fake emotions well!

  • In my opinion the The best male and The best female actors of our Generation! :)

  • robert fucked her lol

  • Interesting tidbit about 'The Deer Hunter'...when filming started, Streep was dating John Cazale, who was then already dying from lung cancer. The studio wanted someone else to take Cazale's role, but DeNiro and Streep threatened to walk away if Cazale was replaced.

  • Hi, who is the blond guy at 0:55 ?

  • @blognewb I think John Savage

  • eastwood hates bob :D

  • wow :D:D.......that was horrible and forced ..... He should have just taken a dump on stage and then left . LOL

  • he looks very smootha dn clean here unlike his own afi ceremony where he looks like albert einstein

  • she was beautiful in the deer hunter and kramer v kramer .... you can see just a hint of "yeah this is my man" lovely moment at the end.

  • Comment removed

  • turds, all

  • Wonderful! Meryl was deeply moved by this, she obviously admires and respects DeNiro very much.

  • De Niro should have this award twice, although Meryl have deserved it too.

  • The Deer Hunter is no doubt a painful memory for Streep because of John Cazale.

    Probably why she was emotional.

  • Who is that utter beauty dancing to the music in the background at 0:16?

  • @omid145 I think it's caherine heigl of grey's anatomy

  • It says Dinero instead of De Niro, please change that

  • @PERIZ99,

    Fuck you.

  • @thelupoistheman1 Okie Dokie...But only if you're not as ugggggly as she is...!!! :D

  • @PERIZ99 why, because she had the confidence to age gracefully and not succumb to Botox and collagen injections. That, alone, makes her beautiful internally, which remains long after physical beauty has faded away. She's a real woman!!! And that makes her both beautiful, AND sexy!!! She's real!!!

  • @daTruChosen I must disagree. If I had to go see one of her movies, Id' have to be blindfolded.. : )

  • She's the classiest dame in Hollywood, by six orders of magnitude.

  • 'our late friend Raul Julia". It SUCKS that we have to say that now. RIP.

  • thats an actor right there

  • @kevfoda Indeed a true legend.

  • Nice words, Bobby.

  • haha i just love when actors act so well people actually believe their emotions, just like in this video.

  • @w1lp34

Do you think actors have no feelings and emotions? They are artists, and artists are even more emotional. People love Meryl Streep, because she is so genuine and real.

  • Meryl Streep is so Friggin Hot! Hate to sound ignorant..but age has done her wonders

  • Robert DeNiro also won this award. They are both so incredible.

  • @funnymunky46 Very true..but you dont WIN this award. You receive it ;)

  • In the first 20 seconds they played Ukrainian music, which was nice. Is a tribute to De Niros role in The Deer Hunter?

  • @coltsuperocean10 The song is "Katiusha", a Russian folk song, not Ukrainian. The Deer Hunter actually depicts emigré Rusyns society, not Russians. The It's a big difference. The Rusyns, or Carpatho-Rusyns, are an Eastern Slavic ethnic group who speak an Eastern Slavic language or dialect known as Rusyn or Lemko. Andy Warhol's parents were Rusyns. According to Warhol the beginning of The Deer Hunter shows an authentic Rusyn wedding, although the movie was about Orthodox Rusyns.

  • why thay didnt put here the jim carrey speech :(

  • Who wouldn't wanna work with her?

  • These Hollywood actors are all heart with but fuckin brains.

  • fuckyou racist de niro

  • @iuqu

why do u call him a racist?

  • @iuqu are you aware his wife is black? idiot

  • Both of them are legends.

  • my one wish in this world is to meet Meryl Streep one day. She is stunningly beautiful, amazingly talented, and truly a wonderful, genuine person. Such incredible beauty and grace. <3

I love you so much Meryl.

  • AFI..........Illuinati

  • I love the reaction of her at the end ... so full of tender and love

  • @bhdrcool she might just be the real thing, I mean at the end of everyone's speech she seems truly overtaken by emotion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,either that or she is a far greater actress than they are honoring her for.

  • @bhdrcool she looked like she would have jumped to hug him ! Damn I love this woman ! The greatest actress since Bette Davis .

  • @bhdrcool so full of s&%it

  • Comment removed

  • Great now were stuck with Ashton Kutcher and Beyonce doing horrible performances!! FUCK THE REGULATIONS!!

  • what i love about this is how he uses simple words, but you can see on both their faces what a deep meaning they have

  • Compared to other AFI speeches, this one is rather thin and dull.

  • @Thorne42 Dull??? He spoke truely from the heart

  • beautiful!!!

  • When you have a shitty day, just thank fate that you got to see De Niro, Streep, Nicholson, Tom Waits and Keith Richards. Hell if you watch Ironweed, you can see three of em together at once.

  • The Song KATYUSHA is heard here because it is an russian army song the music from the movie DEER HUNTER it is the first movie with Meryl and Robert

in the movie they are russians ... their most famous collaboration ... so it does not make wonder why this song is heard here ...

  • @konnge7 Thanks for explaining. I was quite surprised to hear that song here.

  • wouldn't surprise me if Bobby nailed her...

  • 0:56 *1-2-3-4 claps*

  • @pukeinjection hahahahah....you're cool dude!

  • I love everything about Robert De Niro...my favorite actor !!!

  • I love Deniro

  • wow such an honor for meryl to be praised by robert de niro

  • he,s a legend fro ever!

  • what's the song that is played at the beginning?

  • @armidas200 "...vihodila na bereg Katyusha..na visokiy bereg na krutoy..>"....its a Russian folk song "Katyusha" ..VERY VERY WELL-KNOWN all over the world....why did they play it here though? its more of an army song...

  • @OriginalGangster84 I had heard it multiple times when I was a child at our house..Thank you for this.I don't know...many things happen in Hollywood without reason or thought or logic!!!why should this be different?!

  • @OriginalGangster84

its dedicated to the movie the dare hunter, where they played together

  • Can they try to make Deer Hunter 2? I mean we have stupid sequels like "legally blond 2" .....COME ON, I want to see De Niro & Streep together again.

  • damn hes hot

  • Meryl Streep seems like a really wonderful person.

  • De Niro,best man ever!!!!

  • I believe they used Katusha because in the Deer Hunter with De Niro and Streep, there was a Russian wedding scene with lots of those folk songs.

  • "Dinero"? C'maaah!!

  • HE´S A LEGEND!!!

  • Who is that Robert Dinero?

  • As much as I love this clip, I love how the AFI youtube channel can't spell Bob's name in the caption LMAO

  • name of the intro music ... anybody plz??

  • and shes still sexy!

  • there's not another actress alive with the exception of maybe helen mirren that can put a candle to meryl streep. the greatest.

  • @0utthe0ther Hahaha fuck Helen Mirren bro shes not even top 100 Katharine Hepburn now thats someone who can act just as good as Meryl

  • @Lobones0066 Katharine Hepburn is DEAD. I said ALIVE, BRO. Glad you're familiar with Hepburn's work though. So many great actresses, obviously, and any list of who really is best is bullshit, top 100, top 50, top 10 or otherwise, everyone brings something great to the table, just Meryl to me is so awesome.

  • @0utthe0ther what about Glenn Close?

  • @0utthe0ther you said it...she is elegant, beautiful, charming, and can immerse herself as anyone in films.

  • @Kadec09 Why type something like that without giving us an example of who you think is better. If you can't come up with anyone that is better, wouldn't that mean that to you she is the best?

...seriously, your comment is just douchey.

  • @fatsomamacheese All I'm saying is that "there's not another actress alive who can hold a candle to meryl" is a statement that no one can make unless they've seen every actress alive.

(If it was "she's the best actress I've seen," then hey, that's probably true.)

  • @Kadec09 No one will ever see every actress alive, so you're basically saying no one should EVER claim someone is the best actress alive, regardless if she is agreed upon by most to be the best actress they've seen. That depth of logical argumentation is unnecessary for casual youtube complimenting of a great actress.

Example: The statement "She's the best actress I've seen" should not be used, because what if you saw a better one but didn't know they were an actress?

  • Comment removed

  • @Kadec09 So you don't agree that the statement "She's the best actress I've seen" is not accurate, since your eyes may have glanced upon a better one on the street but you didn't know she was an actress?

Because that's the same logic you were using.

  • of course it's not his fault, but deniro's about as fun as a kick in the balls

  • wow check all the legends there...eastwood, de niro, nicholson, streep...somebodies gotta get all them in the 1 movie

  • @elmarco1984 there is not enough room!

  • @elmarco1984

    The unexpendables!

  • @MrPsyxxx ha very good. The complete opposite of The Expendables... In a land far far away...Sicily Robert De Niro as the mob boss Meryl Streep Streep as his wife Jodie Foster as the muse Al Pacino as his brother Jack Nicholson as father Clint Eastwood as his fathers father! Johnny Depp as the son he never knew he had and Chuck Norris as the man who killed them all! Directed by Martin Scorsese..The UnExpendables! Coming in a dream near you!
  • @elmarco1984 no one can afford that tho

  • @elmarco1984 Nicholson is a legend, granted.

  • @elmarco1984 yeaaahhhh dude when this happend then its the best movie

  • @elmarco1984 pacino was there too :)

  • @elmarco1984 if they droped a bomb ther,we would have no movies anymore, and listen to radio all day

  • @kunkunn123

not to worry! we still have jennifer aniston, ben affleck, jessica alba, tim allen... the list goes on and on...

  • Hate commercials!!!!

  • she seems so damned wholesome and motherly

  • Love 'The Deer hunter' as well as 'Falling in love': De Niro and Streep are both very rightfully considered as two of the best actors of the last few decades.

  • Comment removed

  • @strobe8 You guys should upload the one Jim Carrey did to Meryl Streep. It was hilarious!!

  • You guys should upload the one Jim Carrey did to Meryl Streep. It was hilarious!!

  • Can't stop crying! LOL

  • the deer hunter, one of the most beautiful movie i've ever seen

  • Again, why is everyone like De Niro, Nicholson, Eastwood, everyone admiring Meryl Streep? Was this her birthday or something?

  • @DrAvesta Just a lifetime achievement award... Every couple of yrs they pick an outstanding performer and honor them this way.

  • what a strange look at clint at 0:17

  • Bobby you sell out ,never thought I wouldn't want to see a movie you made and the time has come < like the rest sold out and why ? you already have coins , Bob have less cash and more CREED ! CHA CHA CHA

  • @onetrashdancer I saw a DeNiro documentary on Youtube done by Tarantino. He basically said that DeNiro has taken so many mediocre rolls so that he could afford to prop up his business/es.That said, I completely agree with your point,it'd be great to see him in the sort of classics he used to do. Such an amazing talent, often wasted on so many silly little films,

  • I saw that production of The Cherry Orchard too. I kept telling my friends that this actress was just magical. She was in a cast of brilliant actors but she was so luminous you could not look at anyone else.

  • ёбаный насос, он под "Катюшу" выходит о.О?!?

  • Aw, I love his little blow-kiss to her at the end! They're both so sweet together! xoxo

  • god damn she acts all the time .. that can't stop acting

  • Robert is such a great actor remember the part in the movie Taxi Driver where he stared at the cop and smiled at him during the rally
