I think Byakuya's promise to his late wife to protect her little sister is more important to him. Plus, I think the fact that he uses it when he swears to kill someone is more a matter of using his full power when he needs to. He needed to here, but ironically he used a form that "abandons all defense" in order to create a huge defensive barrier, lol. Goes to show how awesome his trains of thought must be!

@super0nofa well he said it drops his defense he didnt say that the outer wall of his senkai didnt have a strong threshold it only drops byakuyas defense and raises his own physical strngth the senkai can still hold up against attaks or ichigo couldve just attacked the wall and escaped when he fought him the first tim

but still using something that drops his defense as a defense is just weird and it breaks the way byakuya follows
