Ha-ha!..know what you mean. I used to take a battery-powered EMS Synthi A to South Park in Oxford after particularly furious acid trips in time for the dawn chorus - whole new meaning to chatting up thre birds in the park..LOL!
Yes, The signal from the Monome goes to the computer, which generates the midi out, which goes to the V-synth XT. I must say, making this work into the V-synth is a bit challenging. There is some odd interaction between channels that I don't understand. But.. it works! Thanks.
I'd like to try one out ? ? is it a musical instrument ?,,,,... I have some cool and rare synths...like a gleeman pentaphonic clear. one of only a few in existence. I like synths
Actually I'm pretty sure the monome is just a neat looking midi control interface, so technically no, it's not an instrument.
You might however be interested in Yamaha's Tenori-on which does have built in sounds and can also work as a midi controller. (Oh and utilizes a matrix of bright lights a bit like like the monome).
if Boc was techno.....

You are seeing a close-up of the instrument you are hearing, the Monome 256. A google of that will show you more.

I have to come clean. The colors are done in the video editing! I wish the colors did that in real life. THAT would be cool!
