At first hearing Periphery... I thought it was noise, but it was called Prog... time signatures that mix or something. The vocals are now my 'singin' in the shower' thing to be for a long time as long as misha lives
@bklyn977 you know what? You are the shittiest troll ever. I hope you die a horrible death by gangrape/stabbing, and I hope that they dump your rotting corpse in the ocean where you can get buttfucked by free Willy, flipper, and mega-shark while Davy Jones fucks your mouth till your rotting teeth fall out.
Jk :) I like Travis Orbin too. Both are amazing IMO.
amazing band. saw them live once and it was incredible, go see them if you haven't yet! Their performances are even better than the stuff they record (especially the vocals and drums)
Let me start by saying I LOVE this band. But...I'm not really happy with this remix. The original version is MUCH better. I think the screaming durring the breakdown brings this song to life and it was removed from this verison of the song. Cool vid, great song, please don't sell out to radio verions of songs, guys.
@MistaStoney It's just preference homie. I prefer metal vocals over singing anyday and I love my metal heavy but I prefer this version over the original. It just feels like I get more emotion out of it. I see your point though.
@MistaStoney Oh no, they replaced screaming with singing! dearest me! its as if the quality of the song got downgraded! bullshit. both versions are equally great.
@ArcticB4Desert For real tho? Ur gonna hate on my honest opinion...and 3 months after my post. Okay, loser. I said that it took away from the dynamics of the original. I love the origial version. They're a fucking djent metal band. They scream. Thats part of the genre. Don't be a troll.
Matt Halpern's drumming is sensational. The work he puts behind the kit is just amazing. The music is heavy as hell, but the ambiance is there, putting the heaviness of this tune behind it, mixing like a blender full of guitar, drum, bass, and vocals just mixing into a giant Periphery smoothie, per se. I love this whole cd, stays in the cd player all the time
@alexkills not trolling or anything, just stating my opinion here. ive heard a lot say they think Matt's great and he is good, but IMO their previous drummer travis orbin brought much more to the table. still both good drummers and awesome band
You know, if they did more of their future songs with only clean vocals, I wouldn't mind. In my opinion, this song is much better without screaming. But the original is still awesome.
Fantastic. I love the album version, and i love this version. I wouldn't worry too much about them changing their style to appeal to a wider audience, i just don't think they'd go into writing music with that attitude. Now please excuse me while i listen to this on repeat for the next 48 hours.
At first I really thought Periphery had sold out and gone mainstream, but the more I've listened to it, the more I love it. It makes you realise how talented these guys are that they can write in such a wide span of genres from their early djent to now. I'm seeing them next week and I think this may be the song I'm most looking forward to hearing!
Excuse them for being diverse and not making every single song the same. Periphery is one of the most dynamic bands out there today and every song they make has it's own sound. Don't give them crap for not screaming.
@kelsfknpeach This song is a prime example of what i dont want Periphery to become. This new version:
- No screaming
- More cheesy
The word commercial comes to mind... While Periphery are becoming more and more popular, i dont want them to change their music to make it appeal to the majority. Periphery should keep the style that got them to this stage to begin with. Iv liked Periphery for a long time, since they were quite underground. I dont want them to change =[
@rezOnanceUK Have you seen the live videos of Frak The Gods? They are definitely not going soft. I like that they're diverse, and I love having both versions of Jetpacks to listen to.
@rezOnanceUK I don't think Periphery and Misha are ever going to write music that they don't enjoy themselves. So deal with it. Misha said himself that he prefers this radio edit to the original.
@soadquake981 Of course they're going to keep writing music that they enjoy, but that doesnt stop them diluting their content to make it appeal to wider audiences. Periphery are getting big, and fast.. they shouldn't have to adjust their style to please people who don't like screaming etc. I know of a few bands who released songs that were really commercial just to get them played on the radio / get them in the charts.Imo this is periphery's version of that type of song. Hopefully its the last.
@rezOnanceUK I actually LOVE that they are making versions to appeal to the majority. The more people I can share this amazing music with, the more Periphery gets listened to. It doesn't detract to the quality at all. Periphery is a band. Bands are poor. If they can make more money by taking screaming out of a song, more power to them, just so long as it doesn't make the song worse. Which it doesn't, at all (in my opinion).
@kylepoobear This is exactly what Pendulum did. First album was amazing, proper good drum n bass. The next album was like "....................................". They only did it to be more appealing to a wider audience, the music became less interesting, more cheesy, lacked a lot of the features the previous album had. This song is showing signs of a similar pattern, and thats what im scared about. Im not saying this song is particually bad, i'm just saying its a step in the wrong direction. ;)
@rezOnanceUK ...Frak the Gods is probably going to be one of Periphery's heaviest songs... I doubt Periphery will go in the same direction that Pendulum did.
Wow, I'm really surprised. Misha hasn't tried to plug his new drum patches, guitar lessons at upcoming shows or brown nose any other musical project for a whole 4minutes and 27 seconds.
Were some of the Spencer parts recorded with playback at double-speed then slowed down to fit the normal speed song? Some of the footage looks like its slow-mo.
Beautifull

Did anyone else get a ragin hard one when misha slams that solo out? Did anyone cum in their pants when spencer's voice took over after the solo?
the answer to those questions is yes, you all should have. If you didn't then you have no musical taste at all.
