i have been doing this for over 20 years, and if the thread type is the same on the stop, (IP or compression thread) ALWAYS reuse the ferrell, the ferrell removel tool, will cone the pipe, then you must overtighted the new stop to make up for pipe loss.. Good luck
@RealPlumberz If you use a Ferrell retriever you wont hurt the pipe and you will be following the rules....those brass rings are not meant to be reused. Leaks have occurred from re use. I teach the professional methods.

if the nut comes off easy, change it.. otherwise always use the same nut as long as the threads are the same, no sense in wrecking the pipe.
