i fell in love with german shepherds at a young age. i knew a guy who was a military police K9 handler for the air force and i got to play with the K9s and then i was a MP in the army and had friends who worked with the K9s. i just knew that when i could afford to take good care of one i was gonna get one
Almost the spitting image of the one I had back in the 70s. His name was hobo. I got up one morning, went to the dog house to feed him & thought that he was sleeping. I went to my ma to tell her that he was just laying there and wouldn't eat, she went out to see what was wrong with him and found a steak knife that wasn't in there the night before. She moved him & found him laying in a pool of his own blood and his blood was on the knife. Still don't know for sure exactly what happened.
@sr71ablackbird i am very sorry to hear that. i would be heart broken. i love my Ava very much and couldnt imagine going through something like that. very sorry
@keverc At the time, it was heartbreaking, but also concerning as well. At the same time we also had 2 other dogs, one of which was a siberian husky-malmute and another which was a newfoundland. Needless to say that there was worry about the same thing happening to them as well. I had been brought up around animals all of my life, & to me, the death of them was nothing new, but that one instance was the most unusual, ever.
