I knew a guy who tried to shoplift and LP caught him right outside the store, He tried to bolt. Turns out the LP guy used to do track in high school, He got about 10 feet before he got tackled.

Most of those overzealous psychos are "weeded" out of the process @ the Oral Review Board or the Psychological Exam. The guys I worked with in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., are usually former Military personnel. Maybe you're confusing the Job of LEO with a Corrections Officer or a Jail Guard (D/Sheriff)!
I work Loss prevention for sears and seen some shit we have two ghetto ass black chicks who tried to take off in thier car but the passenger door was open and I straight up told the primary subject who got in the car (passenger) that if her friend drove off she was coming with me. she complied and i escorted her back to the office with a "proffessional demeanor" this girl was ghetto trash and tried to jump the camera wall in the lp office knocking down all the cameras and got stuck in the back

I am not sure how I will feel when I stop someone though, I am a pretty nice guy but I don't plan on letting anyone go as they track our stops.

I've heard it many times that ooo ya anyone can do that, but what we do for the final training, is have a guy who works for the company steal on the trainee and trainer, obv the trainer knows whats going on, but the trainee doesnt... and usually you can tell if "you have it" or not
I just want it known that mall security is probly the most useless orginization known to man. I work LP at a Sears connected to a mall. I stopped a guy twice my size. He took a swing at me. Im struggling like crazy to get this guy and Im working alone that night and there's mall security standing there taking notes. Didn't bother to help me at all. I finally managed to cuff the bastard then I started yelling at the mall security guys. I swear I couldv'e killed them.
You hit it right on the head. I worked in LP for six years. Started part-time and worked my way up to LP management. But I decided it wasn't worth it. LP was fun but too dangerous for the pay...nearly got my clock cleaned one too many times. Moved into the LE sector and am enjoying it.
