It is more important in comedy then perhaps any other profession/art to understand the lines seperating harmless good fun, humanity benefiting social/political commentary, and masturbatory egoism. Biting language and parody should be directed at those people or institutions that are cruelly domineering over others.
Language is a weapon of war when in the public eye, not a toy to get oneself off with. A comedian who does not treat it as such is undeserving of respect, admiration or success.
