This truly is the successor to the best of his Pumpkins work. It felt so much like the Pumpkins were back with this song. The imagery is a best-part mix of Mellon Collie, Adore & Machina; the music is a great follow-up to Machina. Too bad this seems to have been the climax. Nowadays, the Pumpkins' stuff is interesting, but not quite overall as magical as this song or the 90s stuff.

@Madoushi11 Most of his early Pumpkins work was great, but I agree with you on "The Future Embrace" being some of his best work. Billy at heart is a New Waver. He must of listened to so much New Order, Cure, and Depeche Mode when he was younger. There is a lot of David Bowie influence in his "Future Embrace" work as well. My favorite song in "The Future Embrace" is "Now and Then" but they are all great. Too bad he had to bring back his old band. I prefer his solo work.

Cool! Thanks for the tip. The Danish band Mew does a similar thing on their song "New Terrain." You should check them out if you haven't heard them. Very guitar-oriented, dreamy and epic, kind of shoegaze-meets-prog. In that way, perhaps very similar to SP.

Corgan is a really good composer. Also he writes good music. If you watch this video once and don't instantly realize it's telling a story, that's very sorry. Corgan though is NOT the Smashing Pumpkins, that was a band, and a collaboration of musicians. So obviously there will be major differences in sound, technique, and style between his solo music and the music of the Smashing Pumpkins.

I'm almost thirty now, and have been a Pumpkins fan since I was fourteen or so. This will most likely piss alot of people off , but oh well! Billy is so beyond self absorbed it gets kinda sickening at times. Enough so that his bandmates want NOTHING to do with him and he seems to have his head so far up his ass that it has reappeared atop of his neck! This song sounds like crappy 80's goth pop! This started around Adore and he hasn't stopped since! It's really sad. The Pumpkins were amazing,

As far as the sound of the music goes, this was from his solo stuff, the new SP music doesn't sound like this, it doesn't top the old classics but "Freak" and "Song for a Son" are pretty decent......and as for the sound on Adore, Ava Adore was and still is a great and underrated track
