This looks like an Alain Caron signature Fbass... the model is AC6. They are rightly called the "King of Fretless basses."

You often have to special order them, but occasionally they can be found in stock some bass stores.

Love this bass.

I don't think it's the hardest to play; I have been playing bass for 2 years now and I recently picked up baritone saxophone. The sax is much and much harder to play. Bass is very cool though.

oh well...i think bass/double bass its the hardest because u have to be like a drummer, like a guitarist, like a metronome, u have to have BIG and STRONG hands, u have to be (as my teacher said to me) like a monk and, of course, u have to be like a bassist: having GROOVE running in your veins! training fingers on everything in range, everywhere! and there are several techniques, even some mostly unknown and extreme ones, and u need more than 2 yrs to learn! nyway, respect for saxophone :D

Every good musician needs to have good timing, not just the bassist.

I don't understand why does a bassist needs to be like a guitarist.

You don't really need big hands, but it sure can help. Strength can usually be acquired through practise.
