  • You re right. One of my favorite is "holidays" on " out like a light"

  • What a trio. They are so grounded in the music, unlike a lot of these fusion 'athletes'.

  • Play that funky music, white boy!

  • Bill stewart on drums ?

  • Ridiculously amazing Steve Swallow solo, along with, of course, an incredible Scofield.

  • thanks for posting. great stuff.

  • i see a parallel between scofield and the deftones - who else does? :)

  • @Hensomat might be just you

  • @pmandrade89 actually i dont remember what i thought back then....oh wait...it was this touch of disharmonic playing i guess. ;)

  • Comment removed

  • i love the groove stewart and swallow have going....so tasty.

  • 4:08 is a prime example of what doctor's refer to as "musical ejaculation syndrome" or MES. It's predominantly found in insanely talented musicians.

  • does anybody know what album this is off? i cant find it

  • What's wrong with ppl not acknowledging Swallow's solos. The guy's pure genius. Not that Scofield and Stewart aren't but come on man.

  • vamoo carajoo que aguantee que tienenn

  • Was waiting for 4:08 because i read the comments, while listening to this greeat tune, and when the O moment suddently came, I was like.... wtf?... cause it reminds me of the turtle orgasm here on youtube..

Anyways, great, great performance. No one plays like scofield.

  • Love Swallow's solo (@2:19)

  • two grandpas and their grandson. awesome stuff! what a way to grow old

  • Please come to Cleveland, Ohio Sco.

  • I think I would dissolve into a puddle of happy tears if I was at this gig.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!!! Please tell me where can I buy this dvd!

  • this is the heaven of music

  • Swallow's underrated.

  • @FunkySkunk90 Yeah! he's got guts. his sounds proves it! he play how he likes it, hes different and it works

  • Yeah, Bill is the man. I feel like he is the perfect combination of guys like jeff ballard, brian blade, jeff hamilton, and stanton moore. With comparisons to young guys only...

  • Bill Stewart is something else ... what a feel

  • Hey nice drums, wait a minute I have the same kit in the same color, hey Bill quit rippin' me off! lol. Great stuff, and great taste in drums Bill!

  • thanks for uploading this!

Im going to see him live next week. cant wait

  • scofield is wonderfull....

i see this trio in Brasil, is awsomome.

  • Bald white guys gone wild!

  • Autowah + Wah ??

  • He uses the Line6 FM4 Filter

  • how do u know? do u have one? i just bougth the line6 echo park and is amazing

  • @pierrejazzlover he usually uses the FM4. I think that is the most versatile filter on the scene; I haven't one, I rarely use filter effects, when I do it I pass the signal through an USB interface that is connected with a couple of software on my laptop

  • 4:08 never seen anyone look the way Sco does even playing chords.

  • Priceless indeed, he's "coming" so it's good, I agree with him.

    Great band.

  • i laughed my ass at 4:08. scofield is ill on the guitar but he suffers from trisomy 21 aka tard syndrome

  • @Kananond I agree. I mean nobody plays chords like Sco' but there's no excuse for that O face. The Only Person worse than Sco is Pat Metheny. The whole song is like one big O face haha

  • would be so good if larry goldings was on organ, he's sco's style and he plays with bill stewart, which is an excellent jazz drummer by the way

  • hahah 4:09

  • 3:36 john is awsome... haha

  • what the hell kind of bass is that?!

  • Super Classe !

  • tickets to see john scofield trio at the blue note=100$

    scofield's face while comping a groove= priceless

    : )

  • Go Steve!! crazy groove!

  • So much subtlety, it's overwhelming ! There's not much more I can ask from music. It's utterly fulfilling, a real trip ! And no side effects !

  • i think the horn section is critical, especially on The Low Road and Down D. They are hardly noticable, but i really like theme there.

  • oh man, all the old men really look somewhat alike. Bristling with pristine white mustache!

  • this is really a great trio.

Bill Stewart is by far my favourite jazz drummer just ahead of roy haynes.

  • billy martin, from medeski, martin & wood, is also really great- really underrated. as far as people who are still alive, he's on the top of my list. wait, is tony williams still alive? that man could JAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 4:08 - 4:10 hahaha makes me love scofield so much more. what a champ.

  • the euphoria face! haha nice

  • they are also my fav trio.. "standard" (jarret/ peacock/ dejohnette) is my all time favorite!

  • damn sweet!

  • they turned this song into "heck of a job" on the new album

  • "Heck Of A Job" is referring sarcastically to Bush's famous comment about FEMA's handling of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. That's why the song is called "New Orleans" here and "Heck Of A Job" on This Meets That.

  • Ah enlightening. On a slightly less tragic note however, does anyone else agree that the (sometimes corny) use of the horn section on "This Meets That" is basically pointless and serves no real purpose except to give Sco Swallow and Stewart less time to shine. It just seems tacked on to what is otherwise a good record. I don't know maybe Sco was bored at the prospect of just another trio album, but to me this is the context in which he sounds best. Discuss........!

  • I think the horns enhance "This Meets That." They make the good parts better and the bad parts worse. They add a new dynamic.

  • I agree with you. The horns added a new element but the trio was still very much upfront. Good Scofield album I must say.

  • Sco hasn't had a lot of experience writing for horns...give him some time...

  • I do agree, even though I do dig the album (along with everything else he does and every direction he turns), excited for that new Piety street band album, but I know exactly where your comin from... hes always evolving... probably a big reason for not doing another trio album, but yeah seeing that group I was mostly just thinking about the horns not being there. I like the stuff he did on the album, the more laid back stuff and covers are cool too. EnRoute was just too fucking good!

  • I remember thinking the same thing when I saw sco with the "sco horns," although I really liked the texture and harmony they added, his trio is just SO sick

  • Bill Stewart is the bomb.

  • out of all the guitar players ive seen,

sco does the best eargasm faces

  • lmaaaooo i second that notion, he keeps his mouth for nearly two minutes during the bass solo lol

  • Is that Dick Cheney on bass lol A nice bass I might add.

  • Steve Swallow

  • Where can i buy this dvd

  • Awesome!!................Thanks!!

  • thanks for this!!

  • go go sco go!

  • wonderful!!!

    thank you so much!
