Thank you for this video. I tried putting on my corset myself just now and now I know why I couldn't get it tight enough! Thanks so much for the vid. :)
...and BTW I dress people up by giving them transformations and makeovers. I have done this for 25 years. I tie their corsettes in the front so they can undo them if they get weak or uncomfortable or tired. I tie my own corsette in the front because I am too fat and I can not reach around the back. I never knew there were rules - but then I am not a dominatrix, just someone who wants to help. Thank you again!
Thanks to everyone who watched my little video. I always tie a corsette in front using a slip knot - I put one loop inside the other loop and pull back to get that extra bit of tightening. Then I just slip the loop under and it holds tight.
I've never seen it tied in the front. That is a bad idea. The rest are ok. Sure the eyelets are close so they feel better, but the fabric must be high quality. Also a REAL good corset must have very strong METAL (not plastic) wires for bones.
@cara1954cara There are as many corsette patterns as there are women! Corset making is a course all by itself in many theater schools. Each unique construction works the body is different ways to correct what mother nature gives a person. In medieval days the boning was made from steel and wood!
A good formula for determining the correct length of lace for a corset is to count the eyelets on one side and allow half a yard of lace for each eyelet. As a practice, I use 3/4 yards per eyelet. Corsets should not be laced like a shoe. They should be laced with X's. Having close eyelets is not an indication of a well made corset either. Your loops are wrong too. Why do an instructional video about something you don't know how to do? Never tie the laces around the front. Terrible instruction.
thank you!
