i love fishing that river during the summer bobber and jig got me my first summer run steelhead there is no worry in supply of fish in that river and i fish it from the big hole a bit down from the hatchery to about a quarter mile from where you were.

You don't need a guide. you've done fine. Thats an interesting set up I'd like to see your presentaion are you casting a float fly fishing style? By the way having those holes to yourself and finding fish is pretty lucky.

@hgdatj it's a centre pin reel. I use either a John Milner or an IMW reel for most steelhead fishing, though I'm really liking my current level wind.
