It's a long trek up those stairs. Winded me as well when I was there... I'm from Canada and the 32c heat with VERY high humidty really took its tole on me! LOL
wat's with the puffing? my grandmother can walk up there without all the noise...jeez...these stairs ar so easy to walk on...if u huff and puff wen u walk on these stairs, then u'll die on the great wall of china...hong kong ppl can handle the walk...
i live in hong kong as well and those steps are piss easy to go up its just that you tourist are not fit. Live in hong kong where u have to walk up at least 3 hills a day and u will be fit

When climbing up, you must relex your both shoulders by putting them down and your head looks down a bit,then you will feel much better.

I also live in Hong Kong. The stairs are only tiring for people who are either not fit or the elderly.
It's a very easy walk.
It was built in the mid 1990's.
