True. Placebo suck. I had to go review them once for a music magazine and after about 20 minutes I couldn't work out why they sounded so big for a 3 piece band. Then a friend who was also at the gig saw from his seat that they had a keyboard player hidden behind a huge stack of speakers. And anyway, they were dull as shit.

And oh yeah, Johnny & Mary is a great song. I hated it as an 8 year old when it came out. I think the video just used to scare me for some reason. What a wuss.

I am just taking a stab in the dark here (I am not good with song meanings or symbolism). The title is "Ballad of Johnny and Mary", so I am guessing the symbolism has something to do with these two (doomed?) lovers. And Robert Palmer looks like a 1940s style newspaper reporter dude in the video. The video is very postmodern late 70s early 80s new wave style. I should maybe listen to the lyrics more closely. Sorry if this is totally the wrong idea! Robert Palmer had some great music videos.
