The word was invented by one of the female singers during a recording session. People have thought it might mean "amadan", "fool", but Oldfield denies this. The word was chosen because it sounded nice! Tiz a nice warm word tho!

If you have the small icon of the movie showing M.R in front and M.O. in the back of the scree. If you look from 1m distance and you figure out M.R could be ALF (little alien living with the Tanners) its a striking resemblance. ALF looking back in Oldfields direction.

This tune has haunted me for over 30 years. I remember listening to this in primary school, we had to make up this red indian dance. I never knew what it was called then, and only found out when I got into oldfields music as an adult.

Yes, i was only jesting .. Ommadawn is a superb piece of music, when i was 18 i played it all the time on my old stereophonic record player. He is one of the very few guitarists who can actually make his instrument sing! .. i'll have to dust off the old tubular bells, and give it a spin!!
