@setuda3 Not only his masterpiece, but a masterpiece of all time. Something really special about this music. Unlike any other music ever made in my opinion.
Word of information: It's my understanding that Mike Oldfield played ALL the instruments then mixed them together for the studio LP... takes up one complete side of the LP.
what kinda shit music u listening so u don`t like this masterpiece can u tell KIRK.when u don`t like than u don`t imbares yourself here when u have no idea what music is.Goddamn.I don`t know why u even checking him when u dont like this album
The chant starts at 3:18. I could listen to it all day. I just wish Mike Oldfield wouldn't keep breaking the spell with his disturbing interludes. Any chance of a re-edit with the harsh bits taken out?
lo mas bonito de este album es q esta casi sin estructurar, es como un semtimiento musical q transmite sensaciones, aventura, ir a caballo a toda velocidad, praderas, nubes, lluvia, sol, sin duda el mejor disco de mike.
The word was invented by one of the female singers during a recording session. People have thought it might mean "amadan", "fool", but Oldfield denies this. The word was chosen because it sounded nice! Tiz a nice warm word tho!
so good, I had it on a cassette, now I lost the cassette and been looking for the title of this song frenetically. I finally found it! thanks YouTube!
This brought back memories. I was there! brilliant night. Shame Mike has never been to Nottm since. Still I live in hope the Arena may tempt him one day.
If you have the small icon of the movie showing M.R in front and M.O. in the back of the scree. If you look from 1m distance and you figure out M.R could be ALF (little alien living with the Tanners) its a striking resemblance. ALF looking back in Oldfields direction.
Thank You YouYube and all those who sail in her, didn't think I would ever get to see these performances too young at the time but have listened to Oldfield all my life.
This tune has haunted me for over 30 years. I remember listening to this in primary school, we had to make up this red indian dance. I never knew what it was called then, and only found out when I got into oldfields music as an adult.
You should check out the 79 Tubular bells live at Reading DVD featuring Pierre Moerlen on drums and his brother Benoit on percussion! Fucking excellent drum solo at the end of Ommadawn! (Which is an insult in Irish slang! Hehe!)
And you've lost hearing from listening to rap. This music is not just beatiful (by any standards), but absolutely UNIQUE! Nobody ever even tried to copy Mike
Yes, i was only jesting .. Ommadawn is a superb piece of music, when i was 18 i played it all the time on my old stereophonic record player. He is one of the very few guitarists who can actually make his instrument sing! .. i'll have to dust off the old tubular bells, and give it a spin!!
Oh you, jester... You almost got me a heart attack. But seriously, M. Oldfield makes, say top 15 of my all time favorites, but I think his music is really ORIGINAL. And beautiful. I'm glad you like it.
ommadawn is his masterpiece.

My goodness. Was he still playing this old 1975 shite years later. At least he'd got rid of the damneable beard.
Oh shucks, okay, I got the album in 1975, and hell, it still sends shivers!
Wonderful, wunderbar, etc. And rather a handsome man, under that beard.

Yeah, the original chant is kind of life affirming. Life could go on for a long time when it is allowed to flow on in it's own early way.

Mike Oldfield`s ommadawn and Marillion`s grendel are best 2 progressive songs i ever heard.Simply amazing.

Esta me parece la mejor epoca de Olfield, como compositor y como guitarrista.
Sobre Ommadawn, con el tiempo siguo afianzando la idea que es muchisimo mas completo, mas evolucionado y mejor que Tubular Bells.
