Man, watching this brings back great memories... thanks for posting.
I wanted Robby to win pretty bad, but watching this, it seems like he was pushing pretty hard. Maybe had his crew not told him he was good to go on fuel, he would have maybe backed off. Not sure if he would have been able to save a lap of fuel AND hold off Brack, but it would have been interesting.
Watching this, though, I also believe it was Kenny's win no matter how you tried to slice it.
Man I spent six hours today on pins and needles hoping Tony Kanaan wouldn't get left out of this upcoming indy 500. Not as exciting as last year's bump day but I still enjoy Bump days all day affair a bit more than some entire F1 races I've watched recently.
Never liked the required nubmer brand they had in the Indy "Stock Car or Lights" Racing League (sounds like it and admit it). Hate it! They should show their expressions on their number font like now and back then before they had require fonts.
You know about every race from 1991-Present has come down to the wire. It amazes me that the racing has gotten closer in the 500 the longer time goes on.
You never watched the 2002 California 500. The fastest 500 mile race ever run at 197+ mph. 44 lead changes, more than the IRL have ever seen in any of their races.
Check your facts before sounding off. You'll only look foolish otherwise.
@DieKolkrabe No, he raced in it several more times. In fact, he did the "double duty" (Indy 500 and Coke 600 same day) thing 3 times. He was very close to having a deal this year to run the Indy 500 (he would have had another driver in his car at Charlotte), but the sponsor deal fell through at the last minute. He wants to race it one more time, so look for him to race in the 2012 Indy 500.
Robby Gordon out of fuel before the last lap x/ His career in the NASCAR sprint cup isnt a hit either.

Poor Robby. He's been robbed of so much in his career.

If they were recording live in the pits they would have heard
"I $#% told you I was gonna run out of #@$% fuel you #$@#$ @#$#'s.

At 8:23 did Robby Gordon say "I'm out of fuel....fuck!"
I don't think I ever noticed that before.

If you listen closely at 8:55, you can make out why we can no longer hear live radio on TV.

And yet most people love to bash the IRL era of the Indy 500. I'm sorry, I can think of several CART years where the drama was nowhere near this good.
However, every year has a story to be told with it.

2002-2003 CART there was hardly any drama

Wasn't this Robby's last chance to win the 500?

He ran out of petrol and let the ''superswede'' Kenny Bräck thru.
