  • يسلمووووووووووووووووووووو يم يم

  • Balgees99, thanks! glad you liked it.

  • is this Syrian style shooshbarak? also, what is the purpose of the cornstarch in the yougurt. thank you

  • this recipe is from the Levant area which includes Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria, so it could belong to any of these countries. but the origin of this recipe is Turkish.

adding cornstarch to the yogurt prevents it from separating the yogurt solids from water...also it makes the yogurt homogenized in texture. thanks for leaving a comment.

  • @samlo6 syrians adds estragon :D

  • i soo glad to find it..but i dont know what u put on the food in the end...is it oniuns??

shukran kteeer salm ideke what can u serve with it ?

  • Thanks for your comment. i fry garlic at the end with some oil an dour it on top of the meal. You may fry the garlic and add fresh cilantro with it and add it to the pot. you may serve this with white rice on the side.

  • Thank you soooo much I searched about this recipe for loooooooooong time.

  • You are welcome abofayez, glad you found my recipe online :)

  • thanks great video .. but what is the idea of adding the garlic at the end thx

  • lifecanbebetter, thanks for coming by and leaving a comment. many middle eastern recipes are made this way, by adding fried garlic and adding it to the dish with its oil, this to give extra flavor to the dish...if you do not like garlic, you do not have to do this last step.

  • Thanks metalslug0wnage for your comment, glad you liked it.

  • thanks metalslug

  • what did u use for the dough?

  • the dough is basic bread dough...i used ready made dough, but basically it is flour, water and salt. the original recipe calls for NO yeast but the one i used had yeast in it and the dish turned out fine.

    thanks for coming by.

  • thank u very much for ur quick answer i will definitely try it

  • yumeee, i miss my mom now

  • thanks bdrjaber for coming by. i hope you have your mom's cooking soon!

  • u know, wat would give it a great kick with the garlic?? some dried mint leaves ;)

  • sarayo283, I knew it all along that adding dry mint leaves or fresh cilantro to the garlic makes the taste much nicer...but i could not think of it when i was making the video. :)

    thanks for coming by!

  • How long do you bake the pastries for in the oven? Also did you make this recipe or you learnt it from your mom. I will try this recipe and post my comment afterwards. Keep up the good work.

  • nupps, i bake them for about 10 min until they are firm and a little toasted.

  • really thanks for your efforts and your time, I have a question regarding the dough,no need to add yeast?

  • boeing6666, No need to add yeast at all to the dough...i think if you add yeast the dough will rise and become kinda doughy! you know what i mean? hope the recipe works out for you.

  • I'm going to try this. Looks delicious. 5 Stars!

  • redlaceribbon, thanks for your comment. i hope this recipe works out for you. take care!

  • ooh thank you so much for posting..lol cook in training...

  • Sanerarocksdou, you are most welcome, thanks for coming by and leaving a comment!

  • thank you very much. one of my favorite dishes. I'm going to make it tomorrow :)

  • sillylillychan, You are most welcome! i hope it works out for you when you make it. :)

  • that was beautiful and much simpler than i imagined. i was thinking something, would you suggest that i would bake the whole mix for a few mins after adding the garlic?

  • Youkknowu, as a matter of fact, after i add the garlic , i dish out the meal and put the whole serving dish in the oven to bake a little and have a little crusty top if you like.but make sure your serving dish is over proof such as Pyrex or the clay baking dishes. good luck.

  • ya thanks for the tip. It actually turned out more than great. keep up the good work ;)

  • WOW you just gave me a great idea! ششبرك is a very famous meal in palestine. u just remind me of my grandma الله يرحمها. and it is ravioli. I am wonder if u know كبة تحيله!!

  • Hasan, thanks for coming by and leaving a comment, i really appreciate it.

maybe you can make the sheeshbarak now that you have the recipe and the instructions.

as for the Kebbeh you mentioned, i have heard of it, if you send me a message with the ingredients i might be able to make it, or maybe i will ask my mom! thanks and have a great weekend.

  • your video is great thanks! my husband loves shushbarak but since i am indian, i don't know how to make it but i heard there is mint in the sauce too. is that recommended?

  • semsoomee, thanks for coming by.

actually if you like mint you can add it to it at the end, a sprinkle of dry mint. but the original recipe requires fresh cilantro fried with the garlic and added to it at the end..you may also add fresh parsley to it. thank you again.

  • yes, sesoomee. i've had shushbarak with mint in the filling. along with onions and meat. it is actually quite delicious, if you are a fan of mint. mint and laban (yogurt) are quite the combination. especially if you add garlic as well. wether they are cooked or raw :)

  • Hi, I just stumbled over your videos I want to say these are absolutely great! You're making me miss home way too much now.

I'm in LOVE with shushbarak, but I've never tried it baked before. I'm definately going to try this method. Mama usually drops the raw stuffed shushbarak directly into the boiling yoghurt.

Have you ever tried putting chopped parsley in the meat filling? I recommend it!

  • I loooooove sheesh barak!! I never made it myself since my sito always makes it for me; but since I'm in college now and she's so far away I think I will give it a shot myself. Shukran jazeelan!

  • You are welcome Tony! it is time consuming but worth it! :)

    thanks for coming by.

  • hehehe...last question, what about the flour that u are using here?

  • hey! :) well, i understand something, u are using yogurt, but as i know is different to me, coz the yogurt that i know is sweet, with flavor or natural but still a little sweet and acid,do u know a way to prepare the yogurt that u use? thnx a lot ;) salam...

    P.S. Nice song lol

  • m3xlov33, I user plain yogurt...not sweetened or with fruits! you find this everywhere. if you have a middle eastern store in your area you can buy it there, or you can make your own yogurt...there are hundreds of recipes online how to make natural yogurt. and i use all purpose regular white flour.

  • I tried It Omg thanks ALot your Great.... what are you going to make next?? Please MAke more id love to learn your recipes.... Thankss

  • Thankssss ill try it out Thanks For the recipes and your answer

  • You are welcome!

  • Hi Looks Real good but i was wondering... the yogurt in this recipe... is it a little sour or normal? my husband loves the sour yogurt, if its the regular kind do you think sour yogurt would work with this recipe? Thanks Please Let me know Thankss.....

  • XxMrsAmOoRaxX, this is just plain normal yogurt the kind you buy at your store. it can be sour or any taste you like, but it should not be sweetened or flavored with anything such as sugar, vanilla or fruits. Sour yogurt should work out well with this recipe too. it all depends on what you like regarding taste.thanks for coming by.
