Can you make a video of how to make a wooden fence but using pipes as the fence post? Make sure to include how to join two panels together on the pipe. Also now can you combine wooden posts and metal pipes on on fence?
@pikap7 you will want to use a 2 1/2" steel sch 20 or sch 40 post if you go steel. any fence company can supply you with the posts and adapters needed to connect the 2x4 framing. they simply tighten to the post with a u bolt and you screw the 2x4 to it using the pre drilled holes. you can fabricate them yourself using thin angle iron and a u bolt. basically all the adapter is.
In a nail gun, what length do I want to use if my plank is 5/8" and my cross members are 1.5"? I was planning on using 1.5" nails so I wouldn't go through due to countersinking, but I can't find a nail gun that will do that short of a nail.
These videos are such a joke I love it. Step 1: buy lots of material from us. Step 2: install fence. They never get into the details of how to really do it.
@Lizard2176 dont use pre built panels use 2x4 framing flowing with the contour of the ground and run the pickets. feel free to email me at fenceconnections@yahoo.com if you need step by step instructions on how real professionals do it
real fence builders dont need to brace the post while they set.mix your concrete a little thick. pre built panels are weak and poorly built. its best to stick build. running a mason line to top off the post is a bad idea because no matter how tight you run it the string will have some sag.run a string at ground level 12" off the ground.
@jg8479 So, let me get this straight... the gravitational pull differs at 12" from that at 6'??? Is this some kind of joke? It doesn't matter where you run your mason's line, there will be minimal sag in the line that is virtually immeasurable. You should brace your posts even if you mix your concrete thick, there's always a chance that your post will lean during the curing process. The only thing that I would agree with is that the prebuilt fence sections are not strong.
@timmymo22 as i said...." running a mason line to top off the post is a bad idea because no matter how tight you run it the string will have some sag" the biggest reason for the string line is to keep the posts straight along the fence line. the only way to accurately use the string for elevation purposes is to measure the height of the post and put a mark right at grade and set the mark to grade or measure the height of the string from grade and subtract that number from your post height...
mark your post at the measurement left over and set the mark at string level ( i.e) post height 5'9" - 12" string height = mark the post at 4'9" from top. mark should line up with string after set. obviously you are not a fence builder and are not qualified to tell me how to do my job, we do not brace the posts and yes the concrete will hold it in place. 11 years building fence countless posts set and never a problem with posts shifting....
home depot sucks . i worked there for over four years at 0478 then we got some raciest mexican store manager and i and many others were fired. They used the excuses that i wasn't harassing customers enough about getting a homedepot credit card . they are paying my unemployment right now :-) . I bought a hud home right around the time they fired me and have spent $4000 + at lowes so in a way they screwed themselves. my whole family and my wife's family wont shop there now :)
This is a video about building a fence.... How are you dumb asses arguing about religion..? Go outside or something, get a freakin' hobby.. *off to build a fence*
I just wish people in this world would respect other peoples childern by not cursing in front of them. It's people like you that won't let me let my kids use the computer!
This will actually take you longer! You have to wait for the concrete/column to set each time before you can even put up a panel. Even with Quikrette you will have to wait 20 to 40 minutes each time before you can move on and placce the next post.
Yea! Let's fire everyone that doesn't believe in the christian God or goes against the bible! Heathens shouldn't be allowed to have wholesome Christian jobs like working at *Home Depot.*
What idiots. Everyone knows you don't put wood directly in the ground due to rot. You use metal between the post and dirt/concrete. Looks like they want your post to rot quicker so they can sell you a new fence sooner.
I am not a moron. I replace fences in Seattle that are made using treated wood certified for ground contact set in concrete that DO rot at the base due to water sitting in contact with it during Seattle winters. I don't care what it is treated with. Always worth the effort to keep your WOOD off the ground. Will last much longer. Try it before you bash me.
