  • 12 years old and on stage. Who's playing fiddle?

  • Speck I hope U love Ur DAD!

  • can the boy do a solo?

  • i play rugby with speck! state runner ups 2011!!

  • @tyloroberts14 Good for you.this was in 08' John kid can play..or he wouldnt be up there!!!

  • I'm not trying to be mean, but the kid can't play, and he didn't even act like he wanted to be up there.Maybe he was just scared,he was only 12,but it almost seemed like dad drug him up there, and he'd really rather be playing Xbox.

  • There were 3000 of us last night in Seattle to witness the NEW mellencamp. This song was first and rocked..............

  • omg thats my brothers twin!!!! XD at 4:35 or 4:36!!! woooo haha

  • i wonder what John's inspiration was for writing this song?

  • right on speck not that many kids would of wanna to be on stage with thier dad. Especially John. Should come back and show these jealous people like mo17moe and N179, that you may of looked bored but at least he did it man what did you do at 12 hey....................

  • Really dont like the way he's playing the old songs these days, BUT I do think it's cool to see Speck on stage with him. Reminds me of these lyrics.... "Got a few kids of my own

And some days I still don't know what to do

I hope that they're not laughing too loud

    When they hear me talkin'

    Like this to you"

  • John's music has been the background music of my life since I first discovered music - when he first started at 22 - I was 11, I also grew up in a small Indiana town - I can identify with many of the lyrics written over the years, Authority Song, Rain on the Scarecrow, Small Town, & now fighting cancer "Ride Back Home" fits me perfectly - 36 years later. On the slim chance - John actually reads this comment - I just want to say, " Thanks for 36 years of great music!"

  • A next generation MELLENCAMP ?? Keep rockin' JOHN !!

  • right on !!!! this kid all right in my book i mean he is only 12 an how many kids want be like there dads these days not many .. so good for him ..... and what a nice move by dad at the end

  • Hey man, your son loves you. Quit smoking.

  • Most 12 year olds would be afraid to play for 20 people at a recital, let alone be in front of that many people! And then to be a child of such a legend? It takes a lot of courage just to be on that stage, good work! And what a great dad for encouraging his child to be part of what he loves, that is a great role model.

  • 12 years old, good for him getting up there, i give him a lot of credit. Love John, always have, and he's every right to speak his truth, that's what it means to be American!

  • His son can just chew his gum backstage...clearly, he is not made for the stage.

  • haha what an ass you are. The kid is 12 for christ sake, chewing gum to get rid of the nerves.Who is "made for the stage at 12"not even Michael Jackson.

  • @nilofc lol, you're not even made to comment on Youtube :).. looooser

  • That's exactly the reason i stopped listening to you....you lean too much on the left. You are a socialist and that't not what America is.

  • @nilofc

what is wrong with you??? America is what we make it ! AND good for you Speck! THIS IS AWESOME! This kid has guts I wish I could play half as good as him; keep on doin what you do, chew all the um ya want! bazooka's my fav!

  • Cute kid.

  • HE'S 14 NOW

  • If you close your eyes and listen he sounds like Jeff Foxworthy when he talks.....its kinda cool

  • Kid needs to get a haircut...act a little excited...and spit that gum outta his mouth..and realize what an honor it is to play with his dad!!

  • Woooow !!! What a nice !! papa and Jr !!

So cool !! you are !! John and Speck Mellencamp !! I love this so much !!

  • haha i went to a show over the summer and they played this song and "speck" came out and john tried to pull him to the front of the stage and it took about everything he had to get him up front haha

  • The thing is.... When Mellencamp was rocking us out in the eighties.... Music was his main thing. Not politics. When he did get political it was in the name of the poor Indiana famers. But JM forgot Indiana a long time ago. He's become everything he vented about in his song "Pop Singer." Sad to see a boyhood hero of mine become such a parody of himself.

  • Speck looks kinda bored, doesn't he?

  • I'd look bored too if my dad christened me with my Grandfather's nickname.

  • I went to a melencamp show last night but speck wasn't their

    too bad.

  • saw this kid yesterday, with elaine mellancamp.

  • Great video. John gets better with age. It's nice to see him encouraging his son.

  • I agree, He's doing alright for a 12-year old young man. It's just that a lot of people look like that, young and old alike. No big deal.

  • The kid looks like he's bored to death.

  • He's probably not sure what to do. I think he's doing alright for a 12 year old.

  • probably scared shitless!!!!!

  • what a handsome young guy! Keep it up Speck, the people love you!

  • How cool is that ???!!! Wow is that kid lucky!!!!

  • speck i am laurens friend if u ever watch this vid and u know patrick that guy that u call gay hes my best friend so stop

  • speck mellencamp asked out my best friend

  • GREAT song...GREAT.

    Timeless.

  • John is still that young kid that he used to be! It was so good to be able to see Speck and John performing together! They all rocked the USA last night when John was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! This is my favorite song to dance to! I will attend as many concerts as I can(7 so far) and I hope to see John in concert again someday.

  • he is awesome! ha ha ha. im teachin myself 2 play guitar and i just sent john mellencamp a song. hopefully he likes it! lol. me and my friends luv u John!!! and we teenagers r gonna take over the world and keep ur music and voice ALIVE!!! lol.

  • GREAT!

  • Way To Go Speck! You Rocked! From Scooter

  • loved this concert, especially when Speck came out to play with the band. He deserves a pat on the back for that - it's not easy getting up in front of that many screaming fans. I was one of those in the front row (beside the girl who got reprimanded) and loved every minute of the show. I hope to be able to see the band again if they come anywhere near Victoria.

  • yay doodle!!! we loved it

    xoxo j and trenty

  • Yeah Speck, you ROCK!!! that's a fun song to play. How lucky are you. Keep it up!

  • Awsome show that night. He rocked the hell out of Victoria!!!
