I'm a cuban musician (afro-cuban percusion) and my doctor happens to be lebanese, he introduced me to this musicians and their music...i've always knew about our music roots to be from africa/spain/midle-east, but i'm really getting into it as a musician....MAGNIFIQUE is the only word i'm able to come up with right now.
The camera movement was nauseating. I nearly threw up watching it. This is my most favourate song. Watching it with my eyes close took half the fun away. Pitty
great song i think the mixture of arabic and spanish gives it a spicy flavor. but the supposedly flamenco dancer simply sucks. i guess Jose could have done a wayyy better job :)
thanks digijack1.........Can you understand what they are saying????? what is the song about??? Does Jose Fernandez have an accent when he sings???? I speak spanish, and it sounds like in some parts Jose Fernandez sings in spanish, does he speak lebanese also????
well i can tell you what wadih is saying. he is describing a beautiful land calling it a paradise (jannat the song title means paradise). he describes the flowers, the trees, the birds, the water... i think he is describing the lebanese lands. jose fernandez doesn't speak lebanese at all. i thought he was speaking spanish. ain't he? maybe he has an accent because i think he's from andalusia (southern spain). hope i replied to your questions. and i saw your comment on my video. so thank you.
jose fernandez is spanish. the instrument with wadih el safi is called "oud". it's used in traditional lebanese, egyptian and syrian music. if u wanna know more, the song is an old lebanese song for wadih el safi remade for the duo with fernandez.
Jose fernandez es gitano..de espana..y esta cantando en espanol...but as you know the gypsy spanish accent is heavy and jose es de andaluz..in the south of spain..he is singing in spanish. plain and simple.
for example on wael kfoury's last album he made a cover for 3 turkish songs (if you can purchase the album then you can see it on his little booklet), or elissa who made a cover of a famous turkish song on her last album (if you can also get the album it's written there). we are supposed to be muslim brothers and sisters. please stop blaming and hating each other.
Wael is a christian and Elissa is unknown. some say she is muslim, some say she was willing to convert, and some claim that she is a christian. and if when i said we were muslim brothers and sisters, i said it to muslim arabs (cuz they tend to complain a lil).
as i said before i was telling "muslim arabs" to not complain. as Wael and Elissa and even Ragheb covers songs from Turks my comment wouldn't be referring them, huh? ;) kapish sahbi?
people although i find it terrible that u guys are talking about religions rather than the voices and songs they have,i have to make this clear. elissa is christian her family name is Khoury which means "Christian priest" in Lebanese,it's a very known christian family in Leb.Plus she even talked about her christianity on Maestro with Nishan, check the interview it's on youtube. If arabs only learnt how to look at someone without caring about his religion, the arab world would be bi alf kheir.
plus if these singers cover turkish songs then how do you think they can be blaming and hating us for it. so please next time try to read more carefully. maybe you can understand the meaning of the sentence ;) they sentence referred to the complaining listeners(!)
Amooretliban, as turks and arabs share a similar culture there is always going to be resemblances between our songs. It's also true that turks do cover a lot of arab songs. but today if your look at greatest singers of the arab world, then you can see that they have started to make covers of famous turkish songs.
Why do Turks always have to say they have the same song almost EVERY freakin video I watch a Turk claims its from Turkey! Bro get over it Arabs rule now ;)
i have the whole concert recorded and found some sites supplying it when it 1st came out.. but to find it here.. its such a treat. thanx a million.. i enjoyed it.
Janaat (gardens) at the loss of your sight the eyes will never have its fill from the beauty of these gradens pathways has melodies the moon sleeps and awakes to its tune Flowers adorned with beauty its eyelids are the charm of love and the branches tiered from the breeze can no longer stay awake Janaat ( gardens) at the loss of sight Rocks standing up to the mountains Water flowing like honey from the heart best regards Ismail from Chicago
In general describing the beauty of his country, jannat=heavenS (ie pluriel)...with a detailed description of natural elements (birds..moon..mountains...)

"WADIH EL SAFI" = A FAMOUS LEBANESE LEGEND
I love this song so much! It's so beautiful, so beautifully composed (lyrics/rythm), as well as beautifully choreographed!
"WADIH EL SAFI" will always remain in our hearts and minds as the "GREAT LEBANESE LEGEND" of Canaan!
CHRISYJ:
Thank you so much for sharing this very beautiful video with the world! :)
