plus, t-rex was slow and couldn't dodge easily. Albertosaurus, though 3/4 the length and 1/2 the weight, was very swift and agile and had a very large, advanced brain for large theropods. Once an albertosaurus made it pass a T-rex's jaws, it could tear a chunk out of it's side. repeatedly do that and t-rex will die of its wounds and blood loss.

okay so t-rex may have hunted in packs but the majority of t-rex bones were loners. the fewer than 40 albertosaurs unearthed were all in groups. Besides, it took on armored dinosaurs, like ankylosaurus, which is one that t-rex would normally back away from.

@Orcaluv26 albertosaurus werent that strong so they had to work in trios or at least a pair unless hunting a ornithomimus and if alberto lived at the same time as rex these ones would be around.

@snaker52 still they had a large brain as far as tyrannosaurs go so they worked cooperatively to make a kill, while t-rex just ran in and chose random targets. ALbertosaurus was smarter than t-rex and could solve problems, T-rex was more instinctive and didn't think before doing. Further more reason why Albertosaurus is the "Wolf of the Cretaceous".

For those who don't understand German, Du Riechst so Gut means "you smell so good" or "you taste so good". Which must be what these Albertosaurs are thinking. Great vid and the scenes are synched perfectly for the music. Kinda sad most people can't appreciate it.

If I were the animators I would have made the Pachyrhinosaurus horns bigger and "uglier". They don't look so impressive in this version.

Albertosaurus is far better than t-rex being 3/4 the size, faster, pack hunter (the only tyrannosaur to do so) and could outmaneuver t-rex in a fight and flank it....Albertosaurus FTW

Actually T. rex was probably a pack hunter too. It seems most tyrannosaurs were. Albertosaurus was a bit faster than T. rex but T. rex had much stronger jaws and better binocular vision. Albertosaurus lived earlier and further north so a fight between them was unlikely.

Check out Tarbosaurus - it combined the size of T. rex with the speed and sleekness of Albertosaurus. And teeth equally good for both slicing flesh and crushing bone. And yes, it appears to be a pack hunter.

As I recall Jack Horner dug up a family of T. rex in Montana. There were about 5 of them though they may have been more. Phil Currie's Albertosaurus pack had 11 or more members. So T. rex probably was a pack hunter, just maybe in smaller packs.
