When it comes to spectacular beauty of mountain scenery, I was more impressed with theSwiss alps than with Sierra Nevada or anything in the Rockies. Only the Canadian Rockies was comparable. Not even Yosemite really took the cake. But Teton did it almost, and Glazier did it completely! Glazier is the most beautiful place in the continental US. The Swiss have saved their precious little villages up in the mountains, only trains are allowed.
The fresh air! Frankly Yosemite was awful, the cars!!!
I'm 25, and the greatest road trip I've ever taken was to Glacier National Park in July of 2009. Me and a buddy took motorcycles and camped in the park for 5 days. It was absolutely incredible. The scenery, the wildlife, and the fishing were unbelievably awesome. I have to go there again before I die. If heaven exists, I hope it looks half as beautiful as Glacier Park!
In late spring and early summer I rode a Russian built motorcycle with a sidecar through 30 states covering 14,000 miles and went through 13 National Parks. Glacier and Bryce Canyon in Utah were my two favorites. Multiply these pictures by 100 and it still doesn't compare to seeing this area in person.
Glacier is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I was there in June of this year. It was pretty cold for two of the three days I was there, and going-to-the-sun wasn't completely open, but it was still a great experience. It's one of those places where just looking out the window of the car is interesting. I'll definatly be back some day.
Hands down the best adventure Ive ever taken was to Glacier. In 2005, after not haveing a vacation in years, I packed my motorcycle late on a friday night, and headed out for a "ride". 27 days later Id been through Yellowstone, across Beartooth pass, up to Glacier and then down to Sturgis for a week. Most beautiful place on earth! Water so clear you could see the bottom of the lakes and rivers. Absolutely pristine. Cant wait to go back.
I am going to Glacier in August too...Pretty pumped live in NY but G'Pa has summer home in Montana...Havent been out since Junior year Highschool bout 8 years...Montana here I come!!
Again i keep comeing back to this video . I lived it 2 seasons would b 14 months total. 98 and 2000 if im correct if there is ever anyone whos been there thoes yrs please contact me they called me Ricky Sous i was a sous chef at many glacier
Yellowstone is in Wyoming AND Montana AND Idaho. Glacier is in Montana, and the adjoining Waterton is in Canada. The guy said 'Californian filled place.' He didn't say it was in California. Yellowstone is cool for the geothermal stuff, but Glacier is much, much, much more beautiful. Also a lot less crowded. Yellowstone in the summer is like Iceland... but + Northern Jersey. Too many people and cars. Been to 3 continents and can honestly say Glacier is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
I've been to a lot of national parks and seen some breathtaking scenery but Glacier is still my favorite by far. It was heaven, bliss, the most beautiful place I'd ever been and ever will be. thanks for bringing me back.
@mbunch87 It kinda sucks to work for GPI but I recomend it for a first timer just because you will be with a bunch of other first timers. I like Park Cafe in St. Mary's but it really doesnt matter where you work as long as you are there. =) I worked at Swift Current. The only advice I can give you is dont wast anytime while your there and hold on for the ride!
We are thinking about going to Glacier N.P. next year for the first time. Does anyone know if there are many day hiking trips, say about 10 miles round trip? And are there any good hotels in Whitefish or Kalispell? Thank you!
The Great Cedar lodge. Trust me, i lived in whitefish for 4 years, so i can honestly say it is the most beautiful place on earth. The lodge is very high quality, too. Go on the Big Mountain hiking trip. close to about 7 miles round trip... gorgeous!!!! in the summer, though...
Anyone know what month these pictures were taken? Just curious. I might be taking a trip there this summer and want to know if/when the snow melts off the mountains (I think they are much prettier with snow).
Hey enverpasha55, Myself and a buddy stayed at the North Fork Hostel in Polebridge, Montana in September 2007. It was fun, no electricity or indoor toilets, but had a blast. Everyone is recommended to go to Kintla Lake in western Glacier. Beautiful lake and unspoiled!
One of my favorite places on earth...if you are in decent shape, stay at the hostile in Polbridge, and hike to Hole in The Wall...one can canoe (rent them from the hostile) to the base, stay the night, hike up to hole in the wall, stay there a night, and hike back. BEST SPOT IN THE ENTIRE US NATL. PARK SYSTEM!! (Ive never been to Alaska however (Denali)
Glacier Bay, Alaska is the most beautiful. You can kayak to the glaciers and see more wildlife than at a zoo. On one kayaking trip I saw moose, black bear, brown bear, seals, sea otters, whales( 30 ft. away) oyster catchers, bald eagles and of course various other birds and fish.
hi, im backpacking across america in july/august n was wondering how to get from missoula to GNP? also is there a shuttle bus or any sort of public transport in the park itself?
I am thinking of going to america for half a year after i have finished my study. I want to see some big cities but i mostly want to hike. Is it aloud to go offroad with some hikers in Glacier National Park? By the way, how is this song called?
I live like 45-50 miles from Glacier National Park and It is absolutely beautiful there. The Hiking trails are awesome, and you can see some really cool animals.
I spent last summer working out there and it was amazing, I saw a lot of the park if anybody has questions where to go and what not this is my AIM. Feel free to contact me. I love talking about this place.
Hey MStaf46, my 18 yr old son and I are planning a trip mid June 08. We like to backpack. What and where do you recommend. Also, what lodge(s) should we visit for a night? Any recommends are appreciated. Thanks! G
All the lodges are cool and historic I worked at Glacier Park lodge so I have some bias to that one but Many glacier and lake mcdonald are cool. Would you be camping or just day trips. My favorties were pitamakin-dawson pass and gunsight pass, both 20 miles and some nice elevation gain. If your camping the farther north you go I think the more beautiful it is and less people. Stoney Indian pass is awsome and boulder pass/ hole in the wall but transportation to that one is a lot harder.
Great video. I would like to talk to anyone that has hiked through Glacier. I am going this summer for a backcountry hiking trip. I am at this id on Aim.
