I am going to buy the Pioneer Laserdisc CLD-D515. I only have to put the comb filter off to get good picture on 2011 hdtvs?

Is this a 720p? Please let me know. I need to conclude that laserdiscs with a 720p tv or projector ,including a video scaler will only save them from extinction in this HD world.Thanks.

@jaffabox only on the TV, basically disabled everything that operates on the RCA in so it's clean from input to screen.

Is that the special edition version or the original version?

Sadly it's the special edition, my original trilogy succumbed to laser rot around 5 years ago :(

Actually, that's not so bad as the 1997 version is not available on dvd.

I don't know if you're aware but the original version (taken from the 1993 THX master) was released individually in 2006 and in a box set in '08.

Actually it is the special edition. You can tell by Mark Hamill's v/o "The first transport is away". Different voice in the 1980 version.

The best bit is that it's the true version of Empire, not the godawful special edition.
