On another video the rider said they had rehearsed many times but never with the bells banging away. The horse really played up - rearing, backing out of line etc. When they finally moved off the horse was hyped up. oooooo i've been knocked off my horse like that when it came to the carlisle festival parade.
Accept i got reared off and dragged half way down the street :S atleast i was wearin a puffer vest and a helmet xDD. I'm guessing that horse didn't listen when the guard was telling him the rules :P
It was not the horse spooking at the noise, it tripped over! Then ran to keep up with the other horses. They're herd animals obviously it's going to go with the others!
Poor horses! All the noise, the bells ringing, the cameras going off, the crowds screaming, kids darting in/out of the crowds.... etc. It's a wonder this doesn't happen more often. It sure speaks to how well the majority of the horses are trained. Horses aren't born trained, ya know!
@screwdabrewcrew if he was a millionaire he wouldn't be riding in that...he'd be sipping champagne and eating caviar with the other guests at the wedding. twat.
@msjumpingqueenful Horses in London are well used to all sorts of crowd noise-they go out all the time, and are schooled for it-the horse slipped on the metalled road-usually sand is put down on ''special occasions'' to prevent the horses slipping [especially the carriage horses] but to a Troop horse, a whhhhoooooooooing crowd is nothing!
The fact that he got straight up and fell in with the Andrew street liners without a second thought for himself is the perfect example of the professionalism of the British squaddie!
You gotta feel sorry for the lad - hours and hours of polishing, grooming, rehearsals and the horse's hindquarters just slide under him before they've hardly got going! Being dragged was nasty (and probably painful if the back plate dug into his back) - least he kept his helmet off the ground which may have saved him neck injury. What composure though - staggering into a salute. One of the tv commentators said the lad received a right .......... from a superior officer. That's the Army tho'
