  • Enjoyed her books....especially the second, Dark side of innocence. Sure opened my eyes. Thanks.

  • @jampie06 No shes not. Im related to her and theres no known relation to dick cheney.

  • I wonder if Quincy or MJ nailed her... I know I would.

  • Sorry my english is a trash. But i just want to see that your book and you be magnifics!!!

  • Loved the book. I found it to be very reassuring that no matter what you do, there will never be a magical 'anything' that will 'cure' the depression. It will always be 'there' but it's you that is in control, not it.

  • the way she describes life with highs or lows is so poetic in the book, like when she talks about the seduction of suicide and moments like that, its perfect. because when youre on a low, ending life is a sweet seduction, it trys to drag you in with it.

  • I found it odd that she goes by manic depression rather than its new name bi polar. Anyway, was an excellent book, I couldn't put it down. Parts of it I can relate to. An extremely hard journey to cope with, Terri you're amazing. Thanks for sharing :o)

  • I just ordered the book on amazon.. They are telling me they book is not out yet??

  • it is in the UK :)

i could not put this book down.

it's almost sad to say i wish she wrote about more of her memories. it's amazing what she went through!

  • Well the book does span the years 16 to early 50s... isn't actually THAT quickly.

  • As a bipolar person, I loved this book. Terri wrote with a bit of a sense of humor which is like me who tries to not take it seriously (hard to when you are in it though). Glad she "came out". I like telling everyone I'm bipolar just to get their reaction.

  • You know how when a book is really good, you finish it, then you read all the reviewer quotes on the jacket, just because you want more? I just finished the book, and I couldn't get enough. I was grateful that it was so beautifully written. I don't have manic-depression, nor do I know of anyone who has it, so it was like reading a report of an alien planet. Gorgeous, and titillating.

  • I have to say that the picture on the cover of the book, of a woman in a long flowing skirt, seemingly coy(?) under a sky full of dark clouds seems to have captured some essence of my wifes' friend; she's always in dresses and jewelry, buying things or going on vacations despite a dire personal economic situation. Working an ordinary job or applying for disability and are all beneath her, as she sees it. She's a richly adorned princess despite the dark reality hovering above her?

  • My brother and my wifes' girlfriend both have the diagnosis of bipolar disorder. This book is giving me some idea of what it is like to have this illness. Thanks for writing it Terri.

  • This book was amazing! I will be forever grateful for her sharing her thoughts. Beautiful writing, descriptions, and even more importantly, a picture for those who love someone who suffers with any type of depression or mania.

  • Some say that manic depression is over diagnosed. I say you can't afford to be wrong and many cases are misdiagnosed as clinical depression or not diagnosed at all. This is why I came up with Parent Screen soon to be on You Tube.

  • I'm sure your book will be important. Kay Jamison PhD is also an excellent and articulate writer on this subject. She says that "Manic depression is a disease of denial."
