Random thought...how come they all have the same shorts all of the time? I know laundry day isn't every single day so I wonder how many pairs of those shorts they have with everyone and everything O.o that's a lot of shorts
really? when did you march cadets? That's cool, did you wear them in the shower? I know this probably uncommon but group showers and I don't mix...a phobia of mine, that'd be the one thing that would get me if I were in a corps
we learn those counts when we learn the music. The rests are just as part of the music as the beats are. so externalizing the rests helps everyone feel the beat at the same time audibly so that the feet can be ligned up.
yea i understand the importance of the actual rests. but i was just wondering why yall actually say, "one two three four" instead of dutting all the rest. just something i noticed
were excecuting the music exactly as its written on the page. every height, every dynamic we are supposed to remember and go after. we all verbalize the rests for a few reasons; because its easy to remember and sometimes people get lost, and thats the way we learned it so we wouldnt lose our place in a VERY loud corps ensemble atmostphere... when youve got 40 seconds of rest, its easy to forget which measure you left off on... and the season comes along, why fix it if it aint broke?
Honestly with most lines, the same shorts are worn every day. When I marched, we ordered 2 pairs per person, but most of us saved one pair away as a keepsake (because anything you wear gets ridiculously faded being in the sun all day) and wore the other pair every day.
That tempo is straight fast as hell. And then the instructor is like, "don't rush" if they were to rush this part they would be in some serious trouble. lol
they always play triple everyones notes, which is sick, but i prefer more interesting phrasing, like what the bluecoats and blue devils have been offering, still, they are clean, and its definitely a hard book.
do they really have the roll exercise in the show like that? It sounds cool. Basic exercise (check roll check roll check check roll roll) then all of the sudden they go off into crazy stuff. I like it like that!
no its not in the show... mcnutt has this thing with playing an exercise that leads into the show music my vid of the snare sectional shows them play a trip diddle exercise and then go into show notes
Haha the first part is called Dugga-Burrs, we play it as my High School warmup.

hippy2010 3 years ago
we had 2 different pairs. most of us brought them in the shower with us and washed them there. they are made of a material that dries easily

any particular reason why yall count the numbers of ur rest?
