The Rock crusher sounds much better than the Aracom. I have both. The Aracom gets fizzy at the really low volumes. I play through a non master volume 1968 Marshall. Had a Hotplate and Ultimate but sold both for the same reason.
Whoa, Damn, that cuts it a lot bet I could use this with a 6505+ half stack in my apartment, just curious how much was it and what does what's his face below mean about messing up the amp
Nice vid,was think of getting the rock crusher, do you think is worth the money, it sounded like it held the tone quite well, better then the thd hot plate!
Great demo! This was a great help. Have you done one where you do the same test, however keep the same rms output from the speaker while bringing up the master volume? I'm interested in hearing a good a/b at all levels of attenuation not so much to bring the volume down, but to allow me to drive the preamp tubes harder.
@photomatt80 Thanks! Do you mean bring up the master while using more attenuation? I've tried it a little and it does seem to add more saturation but doesn't seem to change the overall tone once you start getting above about 4 on the master. I don't think that will drive the preamp tubes harder though - just the power tubes. I believe the preamp tubes are only driven by the eq and gain controls.
@CRANKYONE100 I have not, the only other units I've tried are the THD, Weber, Schulz, and Marshall's Powerbrake. Of those I liked the Weber the most followed closely by the THD with the other two far behind in my opinion. This one is so much better, it really works as advertised and does not change the tone all the way down to serious levels of attenuation.
Thanks. Very concise. Very helpful.
