@WatWarrior22 We are allowed by the second amendment to own weapons which means there will always be a company marketing them to the civilians. If we stop making weapons, what do you want our police officers and soldiers to fight with? Sticks and stones? Weapons will always be made and our military and police will always need them. That fact alone is why the citizens need them. The amendment is there so we can fight the government if we see it unfit, thus it has weapons, we'll have weapons.

Our Rights are an acknowledgement of Natural Rights given by God to all man kind. The first 8 amendments are to prevent government from infringing on God given, not government given rights.
If the 2 A. is restricted to the technology level of firearms at the time the Bill of Rights was adopted, then to be consistent, the 1 A. rights of freedom of speech and of the press can only apply to the contemporaneous technology in communication. That would restrict those rights to the technology at the time of the founding --- the hand-operated printing press, and the megaphone. No freedom of speech or press would apply in radio, TV, movies, videos, nor of course the internet.

The Second Amendment was written when a handgun was 3 maybe 4 shots in a minute. I do believe if someone came into my house and was pointing a AK47 at my family I should be able to come up behind them with a Colt and take em out. There was real limited ways of exercising laws as they were which is why the gun law was implemented to give people the ability to protect themselves. If we stop making weapons, what do you want our police officers and soldiers to fight with? Sticks and stones? Weapons will always be made and our military and police will always need them. That fact alone is why the citizens need them. The amendment is there so we can fight the government if we see it unfit, thus it has weapons, we'll have weapons.

As usual, the gun lobby thinks that simply reading off an amendment from a constitution that's HUNDREDS of years old proves their point. When our founding fathers wrote that, do you think they had sub automatic machine guns in mind? NO, all they had was a single firing musket; a machine gun back then could have been wielded by a lone man and mow down one of their entire armies. USA should harshly ban these killing weapons except for simple handguns and hunting rifles.

I do believe if someone came into my house and was pointing a AK47 at my family I should be able to come up behind them with a Colt and take em out. There was real limited ways of exercising laws as they were which is why the gun law was implemented to give people the ability to protect themselves.
