People who are against the stimulus bill don't understand how taxes work nor do they understand how bonds or loans to the government work. Either that or they just don't want to pay taxes at all. the problem with the keynesian model is that those who believe it believe that government spending is the surefire way to get out of a recession. they depend on the IS-LM model (output shifts instantly to meet interest rate) the truth is government spending has never gotten the u.s. out of a depression. i've had professors (one of which was personally asked to be on the board of governors) who say that the Keynesian Model is worthless, and the Classical Model is the one that we should be using.
Yeah, they use IS-LM and Mundell-Fleming to familiarize undergraduate students with macro models. They're all heavily flawed, some less than others. Even Mankiw advocates instruction of the IS-LM model, again, for undergrads. My old prof is Chairman of the BoG and taught an expanded version of IS-LM. This country has had some time to focus on it's self. If a large competitive group does not have an external threat (WW1/2 & Cold War), it will look inwards for possible conflicts. 2) Private companies divert money generated by goods and services produced by workers and money earned from consumers into things neither party has control over. Sometimes things that do nothing but benefit the owner of the company to their own liking. I don't see you complaining about that.

The thing is that there really are some people who are isane enough and corrupted enough by the conservative media (Glenn Beck, Shaun Hannity, Rush Limbaugh mainly) to shoot someone. One reassuring point though is that these people are in the extreme minority. A downside though is the point that even an extreme minority can have an extreme impact on the majority. FOX and other conservative commentators really need to turn it down before we see more incidents like the one in Pittsburgh.

People who are against the stimulus bill don't understand how taxes work nor do they understand how bonds or loans to the government work. Either that or they just don't want to pay taxes at all. Maybe they want all taxes eradicated. If so, they should just say that and not pretend Obama invented taxes. They forget they were gonna pay taxes anyway and that taxes are intended for social and nonprofit projects. They also fail to see that the USA is fully capable of paying back it's debts.

the problem with the keynesian model is that those who believe it believe that government spending is the surefire way to get out of a recession. they depend on the IS-LM model (output shifts instantly to meet interest rate) the truth is government spending has never gotten the u.s. out of a depression. i've had professors (one of which was personally asked to be on the board of governors) who say that the Keynesian Model is worthless, and the Classical Model is the one that we should be using.

Yeah, they use IS-LM and Mundell-Fleming to familiarize undergraduate students with macro models. They're all heavily flawed, some less than others. Even Mankiw advocates instruction of the IS-LM model, again, for undergrads. My old prof is Chairman of the BoG and taught an expanded version of IS-LM. When you get into econometrics it's all hit and miss though, neoKeynesian and neoclassical forecasting models alike. Your professor just happens to favor the latter.

But they can set things up so another "lone gunman" somehow evades the top bodyguards in the world, the secret service, and cops who take away empty plastic bottles before letting you into a wire cage for a public assembly and miraculously does the impossible to said official. Fox definitely deserves some blame, but what is saddest of all is that people are falling for this shit. In this instance, it's not very complicated at all.
I file a tax. I get more money back this year than last year. My deduction? I paid LESS this year than last year. THEIR deduction? "Obama is a socialist communist fascist ist ist ist tyrnat who is threatening my future with these outrageous taxes?"
How can a rational person be fooled in that manner? It's beyond me.

Why aren't more people outraged by stuff like this? From Republican politicians to conservatives commentators to the idiots that held up treasonous sings at those ridiculous tea-bag parties--these people are mentally unstable and are dangerous....and we're basically ignoring them. Sure, Cenk and a few other small voices will point out the absurdity as best they can, but there needs to be a full-blown counter-movement to all of this anti-Americanism. More people should be upset over this stuff.

The thing that no one seems to understand is that these supposed tax cuts still are not helping the lower class. The President says he is going to put an extra $100.00 to $150.00 a month in to the pockets of the taxpayer. What the hell is that going to do in todays market? Buy three or four bags of groceries, mabye? It costs over $60.00 to fill my truck, and that lasts maybe three days. I know people will say that every bit helps, but put my shoes on first and see if you still feel the same way

True, but I have opposed the IRS for a long time because of their extortion schemes and their robbery of the wealth of the middle class. I went to the tea party in El Paso, TX and I never saw anyone talk about secession. This 95% tax cut is a lie because the extreme poor will pay for this no matter what happens. This myth has been disproven by libertarians and constitutionalists alike. Plus, the 95%tax cut is unconstitutional since they have to be uniform for the whole people.

Illinois could surprise ya--the incredible mismanagement by the local/state Dem Machine is grim. Blago, Daley, Cook County's Todd Stroger and the rest have no respect voters or responsible governance, They've run up horrifying debts with no serious plans to fix them.
The Cook County sales tax (regressive as hell) is the worst in the country. The corruption is notorious and pervasive. The IL Dems really have shit their own bed very badly. The R's may take advantage of the situation.

This country has had some time to focus on it's self. If a large competitive group does not have an external threat (WW1/2 & Cold War), it will look inwards for possible conflicts. This is one reason we are nipping at each other. And we still are manipulated into not focusing on the right things. We should be recalling representatives and boycotting the corporations who are shipping our jobs away.
We really have been fools. Screw the middle East.

I wouldn't be too hard on my state of Tex as things are rapidly changing here.
Barack carried the major cities in Texas - Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, but lost in the about 2000 small towns & settlements - except for the counties on the Mexician border.
Tex has now become the 4th state with over 50% of the population as minorities & many are now voting & large % are Dems.
I predict Tex will go blue in 2012 & Sen Coryn will be out in his next election.
