  • Hold on to your guns people, this could potentially happen again!

  • details are lackin'

  • It's a shame that in US there is so much people hating true socialism (bolshevism excluded) and libertarian socialism ideas. Without people fighting and struggling for these ideals the working class would have been totally turned in to mindless slaves without any consiousness of their position in the capitalist hierarchy. But whatever, ideology is not most important thing becouse as long as there will be people fighting for their emancipation for whatever reasons, the struggle will not be lost.

  • @OldWalter Socialism is NOT how this country was set up. In a true Constitutional Republic people have individual rights; there is nothing collective about that. I want to be left alone to make my own decisions, earn and keep the fruits of my own labor and have my shot at life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. THIS we are not allowed to do.

  • I spent life doing dirty work big corporation we work them till their bodies give out toss them out replace them no sympathy after all “it is only business” all of our top management guys no women became millionaires or very well off and the working stiffs live on Social Security which now they want to cut back the payments they paid into – Thank God I was born just right still young the middle of the baby boomers with all the advantages I try and help and will to the end to redeem myself

  • @persevere4 you spent a life working for a corporation, maybe because that's all that is left once government destroys small business from regulations that the Corporations wrote for them to ruin competition. The country is being flushed down the toilet this way. Mom and pop business has to pay taxes to fund the programs that corporations lobby for and politicians passed bills to get the money from you for. You Social Security was used to fight phony wars, with nationalism. You are just a pawn

  • @dons123111 - Do me a favor and now that you've had your little say GFYS please so in private so you little nothing pitiful whin from a loser, yeah a real loser that would be you now as I strongly suggest GFYS - Got it?

  • @persevere4 The real losers can't see the corporate/government alliance. They have their heads so far up their ass they can't breath.

  • The Government comes in and squash's the workers, and then you dummies don't blame the Government, you blame the Corporation...lol...it's so gd funny..I'm going to s... my pants! I have bridges for sale for all of you, plenty of them in fact...so many as I can never sale them all! You are so gullible..my lord

  • @dons123111 THEY DID IT FOR THE INVESTORS.....THE OWNERS OF THE CORPORATIONS.........ARE YOU THAT STUPID????????????

  • dons....educate yourself..........the ultra right has used the power of how the mind works against the people........THEY MANUFACTURE CONSENT.........they use how the human brain processes information.......AGAINST THE COMMON GOOD......THEY UNDERMINE THE PARTICIPATORY CITIZEN......AND TURNS HIM INTO A MINDLESS CONSUMER OF WHAT THE ........

CORPORATIONS WANT THEM TO BUY.........WAR....RACISM.....SEXISM....ALL CORPORATE TOOLS

    LIKE dons123111

  • Corporations are the problems village idiots.......not the government

  • Notice in the song how the Govt didn't raise a finger to help or investigate the massacre. That's because Govt is the problem and not the solution.

  • @dons123111 village idiot........the corporations run the government.....not the people......AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM.........GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS

  • @mkdelta69 Hey dummy, the Government is the authority or authoritarian like you, and business are experts with the expertise like me. Combined they make a Corporation. It's Hadra the 12 headed monster. Or, dummy, you can also say the Government is the Monarchy, and a Corporation is the whipping boy. The relationship is the coporation takes the blame, but in turn gets rewarded by government. Or dummy, the regulations keep competition out by making it to expensive for mom and pop upstarts.

  • @mkdelta69 Now how that works dummy is this. The Government on their blessings from the voted in politicians, act to quell the fears of dummies, so not being experts, they have the Major Corporations write regulations. The Corporations write them in a way to keep entrepeneurs out, and dummies like yourself and them in power. It's easy to see this if you are not a dummy. But dummys usually have emotional problems, such as control or fear issues that make them dummies. Hence the Corporation isborn

  • @dons123111 fucking idiot.....the corporations own and run the government........what part of that statement don't you understand???????????

The purpose of the Evil alliance of mind control and the corporations was to.........replace democratic government and .....

    M-A-N-U-F-A-C-T-U-R-E .........C-O-N-S-E-N-T

ALL YOU BRAINWASHED ARE DOING IS.........

REDUCING THE COST OF CORPORATE TREASON TO UNDERMINE DEMOCRACY

  • @mkdelta69 you really need to educate yourself..cause some dummy did an awful job and brainwashed you. Pay attention..the Corporation follows Government Corporate Laws, that's why it's called a Corporation...duh.. Politicians use the Corporate power to fund their campaigns....duh..lobbyists are the middle men...duh..Politicians being home pork to their state that Corporations lobby for...duh...giving birth to special interests...duh... politicians have the authority, duh..

  • @dons123111 THATS MORONIC......THE CORPORATIONS AND INVESTORS ........WRITE THE REGULATIONS AND TELL THEIR GOVERNMENT FLUNKIES WHAT TO PASS............ YOU POOR EXCUSE FOR A SENTIENT BEING......

  • @mkdelta69 you are just ignorant is all.. dummy.. corporations and the government are symbionic...you collect taxes, to fund projects that corporations lobby for...what's wrong with your brain? a littl short on rationality wouldn't you say, two cards short of a full deck I would say..entrepeneurs get taxes suckjed from them to pay for Governments big spending in Corporate funded operations...any idiot can see it..but you are not even as smart as an idiot...you must be a politician and lie

  • I hope one day a dramatic film will be made about this event. I would make one if I knew how!

  • RIP Howard Zinn

  • I feel your pain you guys. I kinda figured the U.S. was never for actual democracy, but the painful truth was not given to me until I read Howard Zinn's books. Plus, our Poli.Sci. professor had us read Greenberg's work on the Constitution and it only confirmed what everyone was saying: the U.S. is a sham and that freedom and equality shall never reign.

But as a Socialist, I will never give up the fight. Against all odds, those who see the truth shall continue the struggle and we shall win.

  • Amen brother!

  • The Avalanche of propaganda against socialism is staggering. Socialism was never Communism. & BTW, Stalinist Dictatorship was never Communism. Stalin made a coup, remember? Stalin cheated remember? Stalin killed all the members of the party remember? Socialism was and is a democratic movement for working people to get CERTAIN rights, like the right to VOTE, the right to a living wage, to end child labour. Socialists agitated and got us all those. Thats why the rich & their propaganda is massive

  • You clearly didn't read my post or you have no idea what you are talking about. I dont believe in socialism, I believe in democracy, social democracy which is much different from socialism. And social democracy does work as there are many successful models in Europe (Denmark is probably the best example). In social democracy you are rewarded for performance which is what separates it from traditional socialism . The main difference is protection from runaway corporate greed.

  • Free market capitalism destroys liberty, soviet communism destroys liberty, and greed and power destroy liberty. The world and the U.S. will know and understand true freedom and liberty when there is a direct social democracy with the abolition of lawyers and corporate interest. Markets need to be regulated, and government should always be kept in check by its people. Direct democracy (not the republic of corporate polyarchy that we have now) is the answer.

  • I bought the DVD that this clips from - it's great.

While I might not agree with Zinn on everything.

He's got a perception of history that few take the time to seek out and dig up.

  • THEN COME OUT OF HIDING AND HAVE YOUR POLITICIANS BE HONEST ABOUT THEIR DESIRE FOR SOCIALISM.....HOW MANY VOTES WILL YOU GET THEN?

IF YOU ARE SO RIGHT WHY DO YOU HAVE TO LIE AND HIDE YOUR TRUE BELIEFS? tHERE WILL COME A DAY.......

  • We need a socialist economy on the side of the people and not a Capitalist economy on the side of the Corporation. Supporting Corporations is a Capitalist ideals for Corporation make money and the ideal of Capitalism is to make money and use money to "Solve" our problems. In reality, money doesn't solve all of our problems. Money creates greed and can turn us into zombie consumers who may complain from time to time but end up going back to the malls and just continue buying.

  • its so true, the soviet union believed in that, but were portrayed as evil commies

  • @testing88534 America is owned by Corporations, End of Story!

  • F**k all government?? Don't you idiots know there is no such thing as "no government"? As soon as you eliminate one government a new one will take it's place in very short order. A violent strong-arm government is the most likely to fill the void. I always say the guys with the most guns take control when an established government goes away. Meet the new boss, much less democratic than the old boss!!!!

  • Further more stevemcgee, the consitution is not "yours." It was written by wealthy white property owners who wanted to legitimise their new psoiton as ruling class. I have nothing in common with those men (even putting aside the little tehcnicality that, gasp, I'm not from America) because their class interests are diametrically opposed to mine. Until libertaeians and Ron Paul supporters wrap their heads around the idea of classes and class struggle they will be part of the problem still.

  • thank you

  • You're welcome.

  • Amen. I think the lack of class analysis is one of the most distinctive (and contradictory) things defining "libertarian" political philosophy. I really wish they'd call themselves 'propertarians' and stop pretending their ultra-right, individualist screed actually represents 'liberty'. It's not much use trying to explain syndicalism or Marxism to them, since they generally equate statism (e.g. the recent bailouts) with socialism. They're just a ridiculous group overall.

  • "Will work for scrips."

Hopefully, the American people will never get tossed into communities run by big businesses, all the while eventually but assuredly finding their basic human freedoms denied to them one by one.

    Oh...

  • Being very anti subsidy to big business (a good thing) all the while being very pro "let the states decide!" is total non-sense. States competing against each other to see who can suppress workers the most, and handing out subsidies to big business so as to "create jobs" (addition via subtraction) is a huge problem and must be dealt with on a federal level. Paul refuses to address this, and that is a major, major problem.

  • Any particular reason why ol' girl?

  • if ignorance is bliss, than slap the smile from my face!!!!

  • I sat and wonder a lot when America is going to wake up and realize that this country is about the rich not the poor. We are slaves to the captialist dream of the corporations. Read about the Ludlow Massacre then ask yourself is this kind of crap still not going on? Sometimes it helps to tell your employer to kiss your ass. What are the corporations doing to us now? They control our lives and our minds with bought off media and politicians. Where do wars come from?

  • People aren't waking up because they are too fixated on who Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears are fucking today.

  • thats about the most observant comment i've ever read on youtube.until you drive down the street and see a television in front of every house waiting to go to the garbage ,forget about any sort of change.

  • you need to talk with your bishop about your lack of patriotism.

  • Hmm A huge mining town in Massachsetts? No its Ludlow Colorado.

  • is this ludlow, massachusetts? o_O

because Ive never heard of the ludlow massacre, but all the things they talk about apply to the ludlow where I live

  • When you come to Ludlow off I-25, the site is so lonely. George McGovern's "Great Coalfield War" is an excellent resource, but lest we forget, other innocents besides the people at Ludlow: more Pinkertons, militia, and mining company personnel died during this strike than died at Ludlow, both before & after Easter 1913.

  • "Then I hung my head and cried..."

  • Everyone who is all into Ron Paul needs to learn about the Ludlow Massacres.

  • Ron Paul would be on the side of the strikebreakers for sure. Were he elected we would see another Ludlow.

  • The Ron Paul Devolution is scary. I went to a meeting to learn about it, and it was less a presidential candidate meeting that a seance for Timothy McVeigh. Paul won't win, but could have a sort of Goldwater effect.

  • It seems almost like there is a Cult of Ron Paul here on youtube.

  • You say that when he's the only candidate who's not a member of the CFR (major parties) - The same guys behind Ludlow created the CFR, give us a break and read.

  • Ron Paul is a hyper-capitalist who crossed the picket lines during the writer's strike. In his own words he "doesn't care about unions or the pickets." Capitalists created Ludlow with state backing, and Paul is an unabashed supporter of capitalism.

  • He's also an unabashed critic against state backing of corporations (or anyone).

You have to realize that real conservatism is NOT what the current republican platform suggests. Bush, 2008 candidates, and democrats, too, are socialsts. It means they all think the government should have control, citizens are awarded privileges that can be revoked.

Our constitution, and all the political writing of that time, tried so hard to prevent this from happening. Please read it.

  • Your definition of socialism is fraudulent to say the least. Socialism even by Marx's definition was the period in whcih the working class (not "the government")held power and redistributed wealth. Now, I'm not a Marxist, I'm an anarcho-syndicalist, so I agree with the spirit behind that sentiment but not so much with the way that most Marxists have interpreted it, which usually involves a bureaucracy of some kind and not the radical proletarian democracy that socialism ought to be.

  • Government = the people.

Socialism puts control of things in the hands of government.

Free-markets (and correct me if I'm wrong) and Anarchism = The Individual.

They put control in the hands of individuals.

Now, if any group has 'majority rule', and can take away private property and re-distribute it, why not call it a government? They would be 'governing' the economy, and granting privileges.

So, I say socialism, and the platforms of both Democrats and Neo-con Republicans are similar.

  • You are extremely wrong. Anarchism means "without rulers." Anyone who controls the means of production, any marketeer or capitalist or entrepreneuer, is a ruler. You can't have anarchism if some bastard controls your labour. Only worker control and cooperation can yield anarchism. Your "anarchism" is a recent construct, a product of the 1970s. The anarchism I follow began with Proudhon, Bakunin, Kropotkin, and Malatesta, in the 1870s.

  • I Am the writer director of Geronimo Jones a prize winning educational short film about a Native American boy in 1970. The only educational film to play at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. I offer this film as a gift to any Native American

You Tube, website. The film can be accessed by searching "Geronimo Jones" on the Internet Archive. With great respect for all Native Americans, Bert Salzman

  • The enemy always stands in the own country.

  • There is only one mother of all wars: The class war.

  • Thanks for posting this. Very good documentary.
