Did you know that this is one of Eddy Arnold and Little Roy Wiggins on the steel guitar greatest hits. That their songs have sold over 75,000,000 making them the highest records sold in the 20th century.More that the Beatles and Elvis.People do not realize this because they were big during the 30.40,50 years.
Franklindavid, this is indeed the same Eddy Arnold that popularized countrypolitan music. He was billed as the Tennessee Plowboy. He was the most dominantCountry singer of the post WW2 era. This song "Bouquet of Roses" is still the biggest country hit of all time based on total chart performance. It spent 54 weeks on the best seller list, 53 in the top ten, and 19 weeks at #1.
In 1948, I was 10 and we didn't have a player of any sort. Mom listened to the radio for music. I remember her singing "Boquet of Roses" and how she loved it! It has a special place in my heart.
Thank you for this. One of Eddy's earliest hits and one of a number he recorded more than once. I've been a fan of Eddy's music since I was in secondary school forty years ago. My Mom, who is 86 herself, has loved Eddy since his first record release back in 1945. We both love all his music, both his 1945-55 traditional country and the blend of country and pop seen in his 1965-70s music. Above all he was not only an incomparable talent but a true gentleman. Glad he is also loved in Ireland.

Eddy recorded this song in May 1947. That session also produced "I'll hold you in my Heart" and "To My Sorrow" both of which were released that year.
For some reason "bouquet" was kept in the can for a year, placing it on the flip side of the later recorded "Texarkana Baby" in May 1948.
Also "Any Time" recorded later was also released sooner.
I wonder if they knew what they had in their hands with "Bouquet of Roses".

This is my father Little Roy Wiggins playing the steel guitar for Eddy Arnold. It is one of their most famous songs together. It is not Gene Autry!
