  • the usmc has my up most respect they are hard core devil dog fighting bad asses i appercate them for there service to this great nation god be with them all

  • Platoon 212: 26 Feb - 22 May 1963. Sr. DI Sgt. F.L. Overcash; Jr. D.I.'s Sgt. R.C. Smith and Cpl. D.M. Smith. I was thumped by Sgt Overcash in the sweat locker at the rifle range but left P.I. with great admiration for the man. I also respected Sgt. Smith but had nothing but disdain for Cpl. Smith. As a team, they did a great job. Four years later I left the Corps as a Sargent and an instructor at Radiotelegraph School, MCRD, San Diego, California.

  • I am a Marine who survived Parris Island from 5 Oct 1964 to 21 Dec 1964. I was in Plt 391. What I learned from Sgt. Winters (SDI), Sgt Schmit and Cpl Rhodes got me through combat and 20 years of Marine Corps service. Today, I try to uphold that which was instilled in me at Parris Island. To ALL Marines and especially those who graduated off "that island" with the lifelong title, United States Marine. Semper Fi

  • Plt 159, July-Oct 1962. SDI-SSgt. Dowd, Jr DI's, Sgt Altizer, Sgt Hornsby. Let me enter Heaven, I've already served my time in Hell.

  • I was in Platoon 232, June 1962 at PI. My Senior DI was SSgt Robert J. Fought.

    Any alumni out there?

  • sounds like carl from slingblade lmao

  • well if this helps my brother inlaw was out there in from 2002-2006. He was in the army. You should thank people like us who pay in 250,00 a year so Military can pop off bullets and waste fuel . and yes it does happen all the time. He is greatful to be home with his two beautiful daughters and wife. But as far as me saying thanks no way. whats wrong with wanting a different way to make the world happy. I mean war allows me to live and walk the streets without fear? No fucking WAY MAN

  • @butters174 your a faggot

  • I am trying to find out how to locate my Dads graduating platoon#. I got his records from 1942 and they say he was in the 12th recruit batt. He graduated march 42 and enlisted in Jan. 42. I can send away for his Batt. photo at M.C.R.D. for only 35 bucks, but i want to know for sure which one he was in. They said the paperwork down there at M.C.R.D. for the 40's is now where to be found. I know that in the early 40's there were only 3 numbers in the platoons. I believe 12 is the last 2.

  • @butters174 Christ on a cracker....You have the right to open that yap of yours and spill out your sewer of dumbshit opinions due to the fact soldiers have given their lives to maintain freedom in this country. What do you do? You rub it in their faces. Is it perfect? No. Think about how good it is though son. You don't have to worry about stepping on IED's when you walk down the street, You preach about war being bad but condemn any service member that hasn't been in combat. I'm speechless.

  • @butters174 Lady....we all thank you for you and your husbands service to this nation. Im sure life is real hard for you. Tell it to the politicians, and the talking heads on TV. Marines do not run this country, the men in this video do not run this country. Many of them you are mocking probably met up with a horrible fate you could not imagine in your worst nightmare. Have some respect. There is no such thing as a "bad military" only bad leaders and government.

  • the leather neck's are hard core mother fuckers semper fi hoorah

  • I would like to know if there is video that goes with the audio. I would like to see that. -J

  • The Corp puts out better trained Marines now then they did then. They might have been tougher back then but now they are 100% smarter and better trained...

  • @BUDDHASPORT I had a Marine tell me once that every generation is smarter then the last.

  • First thing I remember is the DI smashing the guys face into the

bus's window, after he called him

Gomer Pyle. It was all downhill

    from then on.

  • @butters174 Uh if a person served in the marines he has the right to say he served his country no matter how long nor where he served. Its more then the lousy chicken shit cilivians who sit back and do nothing for our country. im proud to say i served 7 years in the marines and I did get out disabled but that makes me no better or worse then any other marine.

  • @butters174 So to be proud, you have to die? Sorry, but until you go through what soldiers and Marines go through, you can't possibly begin to understand anything. I owe the Corps for making a piece of crap kid into a man. As a soldier or a Marine, you're a cog in a much bigger machine. I was in aviation maintenance and helped to train pilots so that they could carry on missions to ensure freedom not only in this country but others as well. You don't have to die to say you served your country.

  • @kent725 They wernt magot

  • Now that covered all the phases, from when I was a magot to a blooming fricking Marine.. Plt 142

  • Semper Fi...

  • A retired Sgt. Maj. I know could be in this somewhere.

  • They made up for it by running them at all times in boots and full camo uniforms during the summer. They also used a LOT more physical punishment, such as the backhand as opposed to digging or IPT. It was a much rougher place back then.

  • YEA NO BULLSHIT

  • bull9stud Is an IDIOT as well as a TOTAL FOOL!!!. He knows NOTHING about the Marines, OR ANY U.S. Military service. My Father ws a Marine D.I. and put 3 Platoons through. Lord Bless our Devil Dogs!!!!

  • -their ideals on other people!!! P.S. don't bring up hitler because the holocaust had bnothing to do with how facism works, while on the other hand stalin had his own people tortured and executed for not obeying his restrictive laws

  • bull9stud. youre a fucking scumbag communist. you know what communist militaries and governments do to their own people and the people of neighboring countries? they keep them caged like animals and take their freedom. do you know why all the communist countries in the world are 3dr world or developing countries? because communism DOESN'T WORK. and also i'd much rather live in a facist country that isn't run by a bunch of sick headed dictators and selfish scumbags like you who want to force

  • yup true fascism is a real good form of government if you think about it.

  • Idiot!

  • You are hiding. Where are you my little non-english speaking foreign (probably muslin) bitch?

  • is this sandiego

  • my old squad bay, platoon 133 next to the1st bn chow hall. wow! never thought i'd see it again. thanks.

  • Shut up you idiot you don't know nothing

  • wow i remember those old open squadbays

  • is it fair to say that boot camp was tougher and DIs were harsher in the 60s? I've heard different things

  • It varied on the Drill Instructor. Back then there weren't as many standards or regulations in the MCRD like there are today. Back then it was basically high physical standards, and a few DI's assigned to each platoon. That was it.

  • My name's Adam, and I'm a Cpl. in the Marine Corps... If you honestly analyze the Marie Corps now and then back then you will see the training has changed but the Marine Corps way and the Drill Instrctor's evil ways are still the same. They're just better at keeping it from the public now. They say they can't touch you in boot camp... That's a lie. My first day in P.I. i got choke slammed by a Drill Instructor that was 5 foot nothing... And i'm grateful for the training... Semper Fi

  • Intersting, so how long ago was this? Yeah, I hear that DI's will find ways around the "rules".

  • they do ;) im a boot compared to Cpl Adams and believe me theyll do shit until they get into trouble for it. DI cant do a lot when they are at MCRD SD(theres a lot of civilians that walk around there) but when it comes time for the movement to Edson Range its a different story. edson range is not as easily accessible as MCRD. shit happens. especially on hikes ;)

  • Yeah, better to be choke-slammed in boot camp than shot in the head in combat.

  • @Judged Cpl, The Drill Instructor does not hit Recruits. The Drill Instructor is a marine who makes marines. If you did get choked slammed, then it was self inflicted. Semper Fi

  • @Judged shit like that saved my life...3rd bn 5th mar ooorah!!

  • Yes, but I know an old timer Marine who says that the training NOW is higher quality.

  • I went through in 2000 and what is legal, and what still goes on are two entirely different things. Cursing, physical contact and ridiculously harsh training and discipline are still the norm. There is no other way to create a US Marine.

  • Freakin awesome,I went thru P.I. in 85..I remember those white buildings well.

I got a knee planted into my thigh for laughing on line one afternoon when the di`s were playing games with us holding our m-16`s over our heads, seemed like forever..

  • I saw two recruits get "thumped" in my Boot Camp platoon.

Nobody said anything about it, and wouldn't have; we wanted to "thump" those two turds ourselves.

    Both straitened out afterwards.

  • The cadence being called at 2:03 is typical of the cadences used in the 60's at Parris Island. From what I've heard re: current cadences, they're not really like these old ones. At least that's my opinion.

  • I like that last saying.

  • in the marines they can still hit if they feel like it

  • Thats the thing about the past it was so fuckin hard core they didnt need to yell with all the new rules they have to compensate for the control the di's had years ago

  • i know the old school was harder, but man this DI sounds fucking nice!!!!! mine screamed so much i could barely make out what they were saying, and this was in 2004

  • OMFG I bet the DI's were SCARY as fuck back then!

Kilo Company 3029 08/95 - Nothing like this old school stuff. OOOoooohhhhhrrraaahhh!!!!!!

  • thats cus they didnt have to worry about lowering standards so women could get in

  • Are you kidding me? Have you ever met a female drill instructor? Lower Standards, nothing. Those Devil Bitches (I say that with the most endearment, Ladies) are hardcore.

  • LOL, omg. My recruiter said that the female DI's were scarier than the male DI's! He said I was going to be in the worst kind of hell for 3 months

  • they actually had to lower the standards for all the homo male recruits

  • Yah know! Drill instructors could lay hands on recruits back then. Voice wasnt needed only the iron fist...

  • i was the first one in my platoon got get punched in the face. i wasn't the last one and that wasn't my last time. we got hit for just standing on line. ha. good times!

  • I guess the personality of the drill instructor determines what happens. Some of them are not afraid of getting NJP. Seems todays Corps has only a few real marines graduating boot camp. The rest are a bunch of whinners. You are one of the few that have recieved real training from the D.I's.

  • i'm so glad to hear you say that. i tell my Marines all the time that they don't know what "hazing" and "discipline" is. but with my help...they're gonna be great!

  • When I was a Marine recruiter I put a female in whose grandfather was a marine raider. He was one of, I think10 or 20 Marines that survived out of a whole battalion. Marine Raiders were bad asses!!!

  • I think I saw my skinny ass,PI 2nd BN PLT 2035, AUG 67

  • I think I saw my dad in there.

  • You have now come to hell. Perform well and you will go back home afterwards. Perform poorly and you may NEVER leave you spineless jellyfish!

  • I've heard this before. Isn't called "Sounds of Bootcamp?" Think my Dad has this album.
