Karelin was transcendant. As an american I envy the Russians for being blessed with the great Aleksander Karelin. Maaaan, Karelin is such a tank. They kinda made him seem like a douchebag in this video, but my wrestling coach from HS met him and said he was one of the nicest guys around. Best olympic athlete ever, fuck michael phelps. Swimmers can never be considered greater than this guy.

However, Karelin is a 3X Olympic gold medalist and 1X silver medalist (it was bullshit point loss too), a 9X World champion wrestler and a 12X European champion wrestler. Plus they weigh the same, which takes Lesnar's big edge away. Are you really suggesting AK couldn't learn a little mma (like Lesnar did) and crush Lesnar?

it wasnt on an escape...the rules of greco are a little different then the rules for folkstyle/collegiate style...basically karellin made a huge mistake in a position where he couldnt let go and rulon was able to bring that mistake into points

They typically get more for their efforts a gold medal to russia usually gos alot further then a gold medal in the states.
Your collage wrestler gets collage, training & some expenses payed for but once they reach that pinnacle they need to go flip burgers to make a living....same really if they didnt win only thing you get there is a small novelty factor that your in a olympic games review....over there you normally get a great goverment job if you get a gold medal.

He is an example of the superiority of Olympic Athletes. I don't know enough about him yet, but I think there is great spirit and character within him.

Karelin is muuuuuuuuuCH better wrestler than Brock. Brock is just an NCAA champion. Karelin is a THREE time olympic champion and a silver medalist in his fourth olympic games. But the difference is that Brock is a freestyle wrestler, Karelin is a greco-roman wrestler.
