@BluSkyHorizon Cause nobody uses it correctly… It drives me crazy. I play a strat with it and love it. I've never heard anybody use it where I liked it except Jon Schneck of Relient K
I think OCD is a cool pedal for a clean boost alone (without other pedals) because in low gain is very cristaline, but in high gains it lose all the "cristalinity" and gets dirty (an ugly dirty i think). I have a maxon TS 808 as main OD and the OCD as boost for solos and is the better use that you can give to it. Is just awesome
@fitipaldi90 I agree that the OCD is a great boost pedal. I run an ac30 right at the break up point and use the OCD (as a boost) to push the amp. Sounds great!
@JohnEddy123 Do you thats because you can actually hear the notes in blues? hah. Not just slop.... Blues is relative anyhow. Its the clarity and the actual sound.. not genre of music.
@stephanzo1 Throw in about 20$ in mods on the screamer and replace the rc chip with a jrc... make a better comparison than stock ts to the ocd. Love both of them btw.
I want an OD that is going to push tubes to break up naturally but not color my tone too much. I want to use it for pushing tubes pretty hard and getting natural overdrive but also for just clean boosts, and for stacking with distortion pedals for solos and such. IS the OCD what I'm looking for or do I need to look at something else?
no one ever rolls off the tone where this sounds better than other pedals. Comparing it to TS clones is a waste. Any OD has gain, there is more to OD than gain. This pedal has dynamic reponse other pedals do not. Also has germanium diodes in it kids but not configured like a fuzz.
I find this pedal tends to emulate the sound from the amp. like if you already have a crunch or overdrive channel it sounds pretty much voiced the same. Playing it through my engl powerball it sounds like the crunch channel and then through my little orange practice amp it sounds like the cheap overdrive mode. I guess I was hoping for something that had it's own tone, something like off of the first black sabbath album.
@mrcolin I have a rocker 30 and i use the OCD aswell but i think its sounds so horney. I could not wish any better. iam really in love with this pedal.
I loved this demo, but then I tried the pedal in real life and it was too bassy even in the high pass mode...it kinda bugged me because this demo sounded so great. :(
Well, for one thing, it's not a high pass mode:/ It's a "high peak" mode. There's a lot of misunderstanding about that floating around, but it's just an overall voicing switch, not a notch EQ toggle... nor is it "high power/low power" like I saw in one demo. It's on Fulltone's site.
This pedal can, and definitely will do everything from clean boost to metal. I own one, and use it w/ a ts9 in different ways. You can actually use both for clean boost (volume maxxed, gain all the way down, tone at half), and use the tube screamer for a little extra preamp boost, then stomp the OCD for an extra boost. I set the drive at about a quarter on the OCD, and w/ both engauged on lo input of a JCM 800, run the gamut from clean to whatever-
visual sound pedals are just as good as fulltone or any of the 'booteek' pedal builders out there.. don't dismiss them just because they're good value :D
its not a metal-type pedal if that's hat you are looking for. If so, check out the new mxr fullbore metal. Also a pretty badass pedal but very different.
Are these pedals any good for playing metal. I play anything from beatles to metallica. My amp is Fender hot rod deluxe with a Jackson DK2M guitar with twin seymour duncan humbuckers. Also can these pedals prematurely wear the valves on the amp. Does it cause the tubes to wear out quicker? Also how would I use it, should I use it in the effects loop? I also use a standard jim dunlop wah wah and an mxr micro amp pedal. The mxr micro amp pedal is okay but not really good enough. Please help.
Make it simple : straight into the amp, not in the effects loop. This pedal is versatile enough to go from clean boost (to push the valves) to very overdriven. I wouldn't say distorted. Try to use with the mxr with the already oversriven amp. I use it with an SG and a strat, into a Peavey Classic 30 : great for the total price of the rig
if you want a single pedal that is capable of both classic overdrive and distortion i would check out a Jekyll and Hyde pedal by Visual Sound. Its got two channels and its a pretty decent pedal.
The pedal is not for metal, it can push ur amp distortion to add more gain to it so u can get metal tones then, normally u should back all the drive down on the pedal and crank ur distrortion in ur amp, so u can get better metal tones....this is not like a boss metal zone.......if u want just blues go to ur clean channel and turn on the pedal with the amount of gain u need.

Why all overdrive demos are always related to " blues"? I dont like blues that much , I play punk, indie and i like this pedal. Not everybody likes blues, so try doign demos playing different styles. Thanks.
its better than fucking screamo... what the hell is up with that shit you cant make a good living off that.. like blues guitarists john mayer, eric clapton, jimi hendrix, stevie ray vaughn, bb king, budy guy, derek trucks. there is a huge list. screamo musicians wait they shouldn't be called musicians they should be called dumbasses. anyway back to the list ummmm wait cant think of anyone. back to the point SCREAMO METAL whatever you want to call it it SUCKS MOTHER FUCKING SHIT
@Danthehorse true that... The clipping modes and op amps are totally different... but in the end they are both Drive Pedals.... i had an OCD for a couple of months... great pedal... but the sound i was looking for was in my new Analog man King of Tone.... great open sounding overdrive... great with single coils... the OCD sounded weird with single coils IMO....
It may not be the worlds greatest overdrive.... but the range that it has is fantastic... and its my number one pedal in that area as far as what i have played.
The essense of this pedal is pretty good on its own... But what the heck is all that lowend when you plug a fuzz into it? I put my '69 in front of my OCD and it sounded like a dub bass line. Just doesn't stack naturally.

If you loop a riff and slowly turn it up from no gain the overdrive just blends amazingly.
