  • awww... bit funny that even new cars came with yellow candle headlights after 20 yrs...

  • Is it so difficult ? quaTTro ...

  • I like audi 80 86 or 84 model with that fwd system

  • @HaPKoTyk u can see the safety-line, its not a fake ;]

  • Fake :) u can see in 0:42 :)

  • @HaPKoTyk 0:40 :)

  • @HaPKoTyk Not fake, watch the mini documentary on how they made it. Just a safety-line incase it would start rolling backwards

  • Audi quatrro Veldig bra bil;)

  • This was a fake. They recreated it though with a newer audi and they had to use very agressive studded tires to pull it off. there was a cable with a brake run under the car to arrest it once it lost traction.

  • @oirish71 lol obviuos !!!

  • @oirish71 the same here : Ok you say it´s a fake , if the car is towed by the rope please explain me why the rope is not streched and only comes up directly in front of the car .

You say it by yourselfes a cable with a brake , if the car is towed why do i need a break . The new car had problems to get up , they have to try several times , the old car did it very easy .

  • pet sa mer la pub

  • This is great - I'll add this to my simplyeighties website!

  • i cant keep wondering how they brought the car back to the ground agian. putting it in reverse isnt really handy

  • Comment removed

  • The Audi is attached to a safety cable. They slowly release the cable to guide it back down

  • @seabiskit yeah mr know it al

  • Seabiskit is correct. Why is he Mr. know it all?????

  • Hahaha...

    I had that one!

  • nice lines on that car,

  • Considering they are using a car with a manual transmission, that is even more impressive. Anybody who's ever had to shift while going up a steep, slick hill knows how important it is not to lose momentum between shifts.

  • 1986

  • i can see the rope or wire that they use :-(

  • unfortunitly yea, but its impossible to that with just 4wd

  • The rope is to stop the car from sliding back down the slope.

Watch: AUDI ski lift making film

Although it's in German, you can see during the miss-run that they pull on the rope to prevent it from sliding down again

  • well no shit what the ropes for (no offence) just had to say that!

  • I know, it for those peeps that think the ropes are pulling the car

  • It's a quattro not 4WD its AWD completely different. I do agree a 4x4 could not do it though.

  • don't tell me things i already know, i just made a minor mistake, thats all

  • they do a full video of the new a6 doing it, it can but it uses 1 inch studded tires

  • FPVsean: Stupid twat!

  • dude, shut hte fuck up, im a car enthusiast, i dont need some stupid british ejit to boss me around, go fuck yourself

  • great some asshole whos comments im not going to even bother reading... im being honest too.....

  • Poor DrCadillacV, is that what your father used to say to you ? I am so sorry for you.Head up and be strong ;).

  • lol that was all directed at fpvsean

  • the di´dn´t pull the car to the top.. the rope was just to hold the car on the very top... otherwise it would have gone down the "hill"...

  • thats to hold it once it cant go up anymore

  • wow that would be scary i cant see the silly player

  • Awesome vid!

    This is Type 44.

Type 43 was the last big Audi before quattro.

  • That was a trip. I had an 89 Audi 100 for about 5 yrs. They weren't building them as well back then, I tore it up and it still lasted over 100,000+ miles.

  • As far as I can see, when the driver is shifting the gear the difflock may be on 2nd position (which means that center and read diffs were locked). It would be great to get better quality movie to make sure :) If it is true, then it would be interesting how this Audi would done that with unlocked diffs and with position 1. I think that it would be too dificult tu climb up that hill with position 0 (all diffs unlocked). Audi 100 FTW :) I love Audi typ44 (this was typ43).

  • fuck me i was not expecting that

  • how's it going to get back down?

  • helicopter ;)

  • They have a cable attached to the car, there is slack on it the whole way, then tighten when the car stops. You can see the cable lift from under the snow around 0:42 s.

  • That was for the safety of the driver, so that the if the car roll-overs, the cable can stop it flying all the way down. The cable was not pulling the car. This information has been proved. Try to search in Google.

  • Read my comment again... 'slack the whole way', should imply that I know the cable wasn't pulling the car. 'Tightens when car stops' should also imply that it's there for safety.

However, thank you for reiterating - as if you didn't catch it, likely others missed it too. =D

  • I`d like to know what tyres were used for this commertial.

  • i like my audi a 6 avant 3.0tdi quattro

  • tree hugger

  • una baracca pazzesca!

  • fuck fiats... use your mind!

  • My neighbour have the same car same color and also quattro

  • hehe!!! this is the original Quattro commercial!!! 25 years later, they made another commercial with a A8 in the same way! :)

  • I believe it was an A6, but yes, just plain awesome! I love my A4 no matter how slow it is =D

  • This commercial is only 23 years old.

  • I LOVE MY AUDI 100CS YA!

  • I love my S4!!!

  • AUDI POWER

  • can some tell me who's fasters or better 91 20v or s4 or s6. i have a 86 quattro turbo mint condditions but i want more power on it. if anybody can help me pretty sure its a lot audi fans outhere thank you.

  • hey man if you want more power ,buy a Audi 200 2.2 turbo 20v ! you can tune it up to more then 800 hp !

  • audi quattro qoupe 20v i love this car

  • i really love this car omg.

  • my uncle once had an Audi 100 Avant 2.0E Quattro with rear locking differential...

Nothing else to say on how it was beautiful!

  • Look at second 42-43, there you can see how the car is pulled up. So its a fake.

  • the cable is only to prevent the car doesn't slide away when it has stopped fool

  • The cable could be explained as a safety factor in the event that the driver loses control of the car on the incline. If you lose control of the car, what do you think would happen to the car and driver without the cable to stop it should there be trouble?

I'd insist on having that cable myself if I were asked to drive a car on that steep of an incline.

  • danke quattro

  • i owned 2. expensive to fix. but masters of snow. add studded snow tires and they are tough to stop!

  • Audi, the worldest greates car producing company!!!

Audi Urquattro, Audi 200, Audi A6

  • AUDI QUATTRO! The best 4wd system!

  • This video is classic. Many will say they cheated cuz of the cable under the car,it was there to keep the car from lsiding backwards killing the camera crew when it go to the top. A simple clamping of the cable stopped the car, there was no pulley system.

  • I've written to Top Gear to ask if they're interested in finding out if it would still manage it.

  • I agree, they should try this, way better than the other way around like they did with the mini.

  • Why write to Top Gear with this when Audi have done it again with their A6? im sure there is a video on here somwhere!

  • Dude, that takes me back! "rad!"

  • Audi is one of the best car on the world! but Quattro Audi is the best!

  • wonderful ad! thanks for posting this... classic car.
