This was a fake. They recreated it though with a newer audi and they had to use very agressive studded tires to pull it off. there was a cable with a brake run under the car to arrest it once it lost traction.
@oirish71 the same here : Ok you say it´s a fake , if the car is towed by the rope please explain me why the rope is not streched and only comes up directly in front of the car .
You say it by yourselfes a cable with a brake , if the car is towed why do i need a break . The new car had problems to get up , they have to try several times , the old car did it very easy .
Considering they are using a car with a manual transmission, that is even more impressive. Anybody who's ever had to shift while going up a steep, slick hill knows how important it is not to lose momentum between shifts.
First of all, I'm an American and second upon review of your previous statements you are nothing more than a (I presume) teenage bullshit loudmouth motherfucker who probably just got his permit to go drive daddy's car and thinks he's hot shit and ordained with all the knowledge of the world. Furthermore, I'd hazard a guess to say, by the tone of your last response, that you are a limp dicked cocksucker and social parhia blaming all of your short coming on everyone but yourself.
Fuck you your sister and your mother! If you you ever have a kid, I hope your kid dies in a fucking car fire. Shut the fuck up you loud mouth cunting cockersucking sack of useless monkey shit covered dog balls motherfucker! Cuz if you keep it up the rest of society is going to grab your ass and toss it on the street where it belong with your mother. Oh ya, and I'm fucking her in the asshole everynight too! Shut the fuck up and get the fuck outta here you miserable little wrist slitting shit!
That was a trip. I had an 89 Audi 100 for about 5 yrs. They weren't building them as well back then, I tore it up and it still lasted over 100,000+ miles.
As far as I can see, when the driver is shifting the gear the difflock may be on 2nd position (which means that center and read diffs were locked). It would be great to get better quality movie to make sure :) If it is true, then it would be interesting how this Audi would done that with unlocked diffs and with position 1. I think that it would be too dificult tu climb up that hill with position 0 (all diffs unlocked). Audi 100 FTW :) I love Audi typ44 (this was typ43).
They have a cable attached to the car, there is slack on it the whole way, then tighten when the car stops. You can see the cable lift from under the snow around 0:42 s.
That was for the safety of the driver, so that the if the car roll-overs, the cable can stop it flying all the way down. The cable was not pulling the car. This information has been proved. Try to search in Google.
Read my comment again... 'slack the whole way', should imply that I know the cable wasn't pulling the car. 'Tightens when car stops' should also imply that it's there for safety.
However, thank you for reiterating - as if you didn't catch it, likely others missed it too. =D
can some tell me who's fasters or better 91 20v or s4 or s6. i have a 86 quattro turbo mint condditions but i want more power on it. if anybody can help me pretty sure its a lot audi fans outhere thank you.
The cable could be explained as a safety factor in the event that the driver loses control of the car on the incline. If you lose control of the car, what do you think would happen to the car and driver without the cable to stop it should there be trouble?
I'd insist on having that cable myself if I were asked to drive a car on that steep of an incline.
This video is classic. Many will say they cheated cuz of the cable under the car,it was there to keep the car from lsiding backwards killing the camera crew when it go to the top. A simple clamping of the cable stopped the car, there was no pulley system.
awww... bit funny that even new cars came with yellow candle headlights after 20 yrs...

i can see the rope or wire that they use :-(
audiking46 3 years ago
unfortunitly yea, but its impossible to that with just 4wd
FPVsean 3 years ago
The rope is to stop the car from sliding back down the slope.
Watch: AUDI ski lift making film
Although it's in German, you can see during the miss-run that they pull on the rope to prevent it from sliding down again
Justin6745 3 years ago 3
well no shit what the ropes for (no offence) just had to say that!
FPVsean 3 years ago
I know, it for those peeps that think the ropes are pulling the car

It's a quattro not 4WD its AWD completely different. I do agree a 4x4 could not do it though.
