  • Love foundation moves yo. I guarantee you if you can learn this moves you can add as many variations as you want and make it your style. Golden age hip-hop was the best ya feel me?

  • Can anyone tell me which is this from James Brown and the other songs that is played in this video??!!! Please reply as soon as possible... Thanks! =)

  • Is it me or is the flooer about to cave in during the scoody doo and the skeeter rabbit

  • its true that the old tutorials are better than more recent ones, i think its because people concentrate more on the broken down version rather than the move itself

  • I feel that the way of making tutorials has evolved a lot, I mean, in most of old tutorials, dancers just repeat slowly their moves, without breakin' 'em down or explaining in detail. But this shit is still WAAAY more helpful than many other (recent) tutorials :-O

    R.I.P Skeeter

  • Much love to you .. and much respect to Stephen Nichols RIP a great legend, However the History to the name Skeeter Rabbit goes all the way back to 1971, and there is an Original who came before Stephen. The Original Skeeter Rabbit created the step. The Lockers, Ogs and the Electric Boogaloos will tell you the truth regarding the origin of the Name and the Original SR(James Higgins) who created both , we regret that locking has suffered so much confusion without accurate teaching of its history

  • R.I.P

  • ending was dope

  • GO2; Frankie.d Trendy dayz

  • he's messin up the funky chicken, it looks like a funky penguin when he does it x)

  • The old timer even has the 1975 "Re Run" hat from waaay back in the day. (What's Happenin' TV show.)

His lock moves are still TIGHT, though. Especially those wrist rolls.

  • Rip man, you the one...!

  • Locking is timeless. It was invented back in the day, but so was ballet. Does that make ballet old school too?hmmm. Locking has evolved, but it's still locking ! I see tons of dance crews out there trying to imitate it.

  • You are right. More and more people will dance Locking from now on.

You compared Locking to Ballet. In Locking, it has short history. Locking was created by early 70s. On the other hand, Ballet has longer history.

In Korea, Locking is famous. I saw many people in US coying Locking movements from youtube. It's really good thing. But, there's one problem.

Many of those people started teach Locking after taking 1 or 2 classes.

  • Yeah that's my point. I think people just saw it as a dead or dying dance, so they refer to it as old school. IT's only because the funk styles were all social dances. I'm glad people are starting to see the styles in a more serious light and trying to learn it more in depth. I just dont like when people try to teach the watered down versions ! :)

  • Shabbadoo from The lockers mentioned that he had spent very long time to know Locking.

As you mentioned above, it's easy to access. But it's not easy dance.

  • if locking r a old school style.... den wats considered as new? hardstyle?

  • I love locking!!! my favorite old school dancing style!!! keep locking all those who agree!!

  • @Biko661 I agree, then, i keep locking.

  • @Biko661 i agree, though i wasnt alive yet when lockin was born. and i wanna learn this and then maybe lockin forever. :D

  • nothing beats the old funk styles :'''')

    R.I.P. Skeeter Rabbit

Much love to The Lockers <3

  • descanse em paz skeeter rabbit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • need to work on my skeeter rabbit and funky broadway

    r.i.p. Skeeter rabbit :]

  • True Legend right there ya.

  • RIP Skeeter

  • Holy Crap!!...lol...i always thought locking was where you locked a part of your body and didnt move it while it was flexed..

    wow

  • it is, but the overall style has a lot of different moves.

  • "rebolation" são copiadores,bboy é a evolution!

  • This was very helpful

  • Was his real name Steven Nicholas or Steven Nichols? Cos too many sites are using one or the other

  • it's steven nicholas.

  • This is really helpfull, only after wich a way, you can't see the feet anymore..

  • looks like the ReRun from What happenin

  • Whoo!Whoo! I wanna learn em' all!

  • Funkkkkkyyyy!!! :D Lock it babayy!!!

  • fa sho!

  • woah, skeeter rabbit is a hard move XD and which-a-way, too

i don't rly get how to make skeeter rabbit O.o but awesome there's such a tutorial

  • I went to a dance camp a few years back and took classes with Skeeter. He's freakin' awesome =]

  • u r too good man i improved my locking

  • I just improved my locking alot! hehe

Much respect to Skeeter Rabbit and the hip-hop pioneers.

  • it's Stop and Go dude, not stop in go >.>

stop in go doesn't even make any sense >.>

  • THE STOP IN GO IS the funkiest black rhythm we have

  • im still having trouble doin the which-a-way

  • Ty Stephen! I'm a visual learner so I can just learn the movements from your demonstrations, thx! :)

  • does anyone know what the name of the song when his doing "the watergate" ??

  • RIP

  • what's up with the beggining like he knew he was gonna die. I mean cause he's actually dead know...

  • Im having a hard time with "which-a-way".

  • yeah no doubt, it's one of the hardest moves, practice makes perfect =)

  • he really looks weird going up and down like that lol

  • Does anyone know the name of the son when he's doing the Uncle Sam Points. I can tell it's James Brown but what song is that?

  • HEY!!! I know what I'ma be doin on the weekends...putting this video on FULL SCREEN and practicing.

OK seriously...back in the 80s we did something like the Watergate, and the Funky Broadway...wish I can remember what we called it then.

  • I THINK we used to call the Funky Broadway the Uncle Wully...but I also think it had another name too...I remember one of the rappers used to do something like it *maybe Kwame'?*

And the Which A Way always reminds me of a sideways Roger Rabbit...so I can so that one pretty easily.

  • watergate and skeeter rabbit are my favourites :D

  • skeeter rabbit looks sexy

  • I totally took classes with Skeeter Rabbit! He was a counselor at a dance camp I went to. He's freakin' awesome =D

  • I, love loking, excelent!!!!

  • Are there any tutorials for wrist twirls, skeeter rabbit, and wich-a-way? I see those moves a lot when I watch people lock.

  • Scoo Box is awesome! Does anyone know the song used for it?

  • James Brown - Cold Sweat

  • this is an awsome video thats going to help so much seriously to be a good dance just be well rounded i mean i know poping locking waving c-walk hip hop breaking and im good at all of them it helps so much in battles

  • i love LOCKING

  • Locking is so cool

  • I love the funny chicken hahahaha

  • 1:20 NICE

  • peace and respect to skeeter rabbit, with all due respect, the move that he demonstrated as the funky chicken is incorrect. that move is actually the funky penguin. the funky chicken is done by "bowing" the legs and knees in and out like rubber bands. still love ya' bro. r.i.p.

  • wrong funkyjessi. This is OLD SCHOOL locking. your probably thinking of popping. popping and locking do go great together, but they are NOT THE SAME THING. And nooo...another thing is pros DO DO THIS STYLE of locking. Check out BBoy Lilou, look on my page, hes a hella good example. Or if you want someone else, look up Nam Hyun Joon or "Poppin" Hyun Joon. Classic examples.

Check what your criticizing before you criticize it. you just might get proven wrong. Seriously. Look em up though
