  • Great band- fab singer. Music will live on beyond facile comments. Mariska rocks!

  • great song hey amsterdamkutscheet your comment is plain horse shit next time keep your trash comments to your self.

  • Probably dutch people were cool back then. When did you stop being cool and went all mad with apres-ski and furthermore what made u do that? I assume its the germans fault.... Prolly they beat u too often at World Cup so u became a nation of alkohol addicts suppressing their feelings in Hooliganism and shallow Party music.

  • @Laughing7Buddha trolololololol

  • @Laughing7Buddha Mariska Veres used to sit on your face when she weighed over 400 pounds.

  • @roxydog2004 but Mariska Veres could do a better Kutscheet than Agnetha ever could.

  • Это моя любимая группа!!!!

  • kan,jy,lezen,zonder,ik,rotwords,type,of,verplichte,regels,

  • On my profile there's a video to their song "hear my song"(b-side of the never marry a railroad man single). Never found it anywhere to download or any video with this song here on youtube, so I decided to do this and upload

  • Fun to hear these classic songs again. Sorry to hear of Mariska's passing. Too young. Technical tidbits: "Tremolo" is a change in VOLUME, as IS heard on this song - done in the amplifier, NOT on the guitar. "Vibrato" is PITCH change, as done with voice, with fingers or vibrato tailpiece on a guitar. (The vibrato tailpiece was long-ago completely MISnamed by Fender as a "tremolo," & unfortunately it's been mistaken ever since. Bigsby correctly calls their tailpieces "True Vibrato.")

  • 12 People dont have a clue about music

  • Mariska is a Hungarian nickname of Mary (Mária in Hungarian). Did you know????

  • @Karcsubey Машка по русски

  • 00:00 to 03:26 is the best part in my life

  • Founder Robbie van Leeuwen was a sitar player and that adds class to Shocking Blue.

  • she's kinda hot and sings pretty good...what ever happened to her

  • @gymer15 ...."Mariska Veres" passed away in Dec. 2006 at the age of 59. Her last TV performance can be seen in the video on the right margin of this page......"Jagar"

  • @ausfuhrpramienjagar Thanks, she got a bit chunky but sounded great...Your 80's stuff on your channel is cool...

  • tremolo not vibrato guitar

  • Sweet vibrato on guitar, no?

  • @papyslapet it's tremolo

  • @pihlapori

Wrong. That's NOT the sound of the tremolo (aka "whammy bar") playing.

It's definitely a vibrato effect on the guitar. Listen closer!

  • I think that there are two guitars a bass a set of drums and the voice...

  • lov

  • ya minimo deberian de acer un tributo a los shoking blue, en ves de aserselo a esa ruca que canta rre feo, alejandra gusman, gloria travi

  • Imagine that!!!! ONE lead guitar, ONE bass guitar, ONE set of drums, ANd ONE FANTASTIC VOICE!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!

  • "B-side" is it ?

Mariska Veres reading the 'phone book is worth more than the sum-total of today's over-engineered infected *stink tramps*, with their plastic surgeries and reamed-out %!%!!s.

  • One of the greatest female singers. Sadly under rated. Great band!

  • fuck the multinationals and record comanies and every other asshole who wants to dictate what we listen to so their one hit wonder prima donna drug addled crackhead superstars generate profits for them iwholeheartedly than you tube for giving me a fantastic choice of real 24 carat gold talent and music which is immeasurably enjoyable to listen to and by reading the comments discovering more fabulous talent to listen to bravo to shocking blue you tube and all its listener fans and viewers

  • @jojo1645 Put the bong down.

  • Mariska in the Glory!!!! forever!!!!

  • my favorite group... tx !

  • Never heard these songs before. Can't understand why these were never released on U.S. radio. Similar style to Jefferson airplane, Maybe someone got paid off. I think they could have given Grace & the boys a run for the money. Just like all the other girl lead singer bands, style back then, they should have fit right in. Maybe like Col.Parker, they didn't have working visas for the states. From over seas.

  • wow the lead singer has an amazing voice oh my god.

  • good call. great song

  • Great voice and great big hair!!!

At that time we had just ONE hour of music a week on tv.

At that time it was really renewing

I like travelling by the railroads.

My interest is new trains, such as Eurostars, new TGVs, Eurostar italiano, Swedish tilting,DBs, fs, SBB.....

I hear BBC will release new DVDs with Mary singin' Jefferson, a Western taste song by Mary Hopkin in coming May 2009, Maybe.

    All the best,

    Tommy

    from the far east.

I once took the train "Night Ferry" from Paris Nord. It arrived at London Victoria.

  • Smokin' blues! Yeh!!

  • she is gorgeous....fucking gooooood song....great band!

  • Just saw Morrisey in concert and 3 or 4 Shocking Blue vids were shown between the opening act and Moz's set. What a nice treat that was.

  • Go figure!! I guess most people outside of the Nederlands never came to realize that Shocking Blue were more, much more, that one hit wonders.

Thank you for exposing us to their fantastic repertoire and to the beautiful Mariska Veres ( God rest her soul).

  • Heck, until last year when I first went on Youtube, I thought the lead singer was a man. That's how bad the record player I grew up with was and the 45 I had of Venus and my little crystal radio I made using the radiator in my room as the ground! Only had AM radio in my little town in the 60s. Glad Venus made a big splash with bananarama so Robbie made some bucks. Hope he helps out the rest of the surviviing band members

  • I was one of those. Thanks to YouTube, I heard more, and realized how good Shocking Blue was.

  • What do you mean 'I was one of those'?

  • One who only knew Shocking Blue by the one song, Venus.

  • Oh you mean you were one of those people who knew Shocking Blue back in the 60's/70's?

  • Sorry if I didn't explain this right, but until I stumbled onto YouTube, the only Shocking Blue song I knew was Venus. I never knew of anything else.

  • NICE

  • Guitar reminds me a bit of Quicksilver Messenger Service.

  • It definitely sounds like Quicksilver!

  • yes. good sound. I had quicksilvers black double album anthology. got the CD now, Just remembered a friend has it. Got to fish that back

  • Just got their greatest hits album. Love that classic album period.

  • s e ee genial cancion hermosa y la voz XDXD saludos

  • nice song, I love it

  • What a particular song. I never heard it too. Deeproad2, thanks for the post!

  • wow, what a song, i never heard it

  • Never heard it, but wow, love it, the two first album i've bought was Melanie's "Good Book" and "Shocking Blue at home".

  • A B side?

Sounds too good to be a B side!

  • That's true. But it was the b-side to "Shocking You" (Metronome, 1971).

  • Cool, thanks for that.
