Proposition 8 was a ban on gay marriage. It was a legal issue, not a religion one. People were using religion to say that it was wrong and should not be legal. Proposition 8 was a ban on gay marriage. It was a legal issue, not a religion one. People were using religion to say that it was wrong and should not be legal. Prop 8 was not about the church's definition on marriage but equal marriage rights between people, which should not be decided upon by a religious organization.
