Activision actually had a pretty good track record trying to take Infocom graphical. Despite being roundly criticized for the difficulty and illogic of its puzzles, RTZ was nonetheless a ground-breaking game in its day (it remains to this day one of my favorite Zorks). Both Zork: Nemesis and Zork:GI were highly lauded as well. Of course, you can't please everyone, but I think Activision could have done quite will with PF2.
@cjeculver: I played Zork: The Grand Inquisitor when it came out (think I was 11 or 12), absolutely loved it! I think it's also the most approachable game in the series.
