cross your eyes and make both boxes together to one box in the middle of the screen, and keep trying to focus on that middle box until you get it... took me about 5-10 trys until I got it right
lol, YouTube set up a blog about it, and I know how now... If you want the blog, I'll have to have a few minutes, but the basic steps to doing this, is
Use 2 cameras (try to make sure they're the same, so you don't have to worry about zoom, size, or anything else
And set them up side by side focusing on an object, by turning one of them inwards a little
Then go to your video editor, and put the right cam footage on the left, and left on the right, and upload the video like that
Any tips on how to set alignment correctly would be much appreciated ... please remember, I'm using two different, cheap, digital cameras with very poor zoom controls.
As for the stereo window ... try watching the higher quality version ... link in the info panel ... the Flash player used by YT does not always get it right.
You also complain about sync ... any hints on how to get closer than 1/30th second much appreciated!!!!!!!
I'll have a look at your 3D videos to get some ideas :)
Synch IS a very important issue in stereoscopy - you need to ry to synchronize the cameras already on shooting, not in post processing - if the cameras record interlaced you still can synch to 1/60 in the post thats all - better synch is only possible if cameras already run in synch e.g if both cameras are the same type then start them at the same time (electronical) e.g by powering them up using only ONBE battery and one powe-on switch attached to this battery
Of course sync is important ... and I have seen how people have taken cameras to pieces to modify the electronics in order to run both cameras ( start/stop/zoom/focus/exposure etc ) from the one set of controls. I am not able to do this. I simply use two, cheap, different, digital still cameras in movie mode and no special software. It's just a bit of fun to see what can be achieved with kit that's lying around the house.
Would love to see some of your efforts ... with explanations please!
SMM is not available for Macs ... I don't use any special software, just QT Pro. This video was uploaded at 640X240 pixels ... i.e perfect stereowindow settings. Sadly, the YT player does not always play this file with these dimensions ... I cannot explain why. However, the HQ version of this file, made by YT DOES play correctly. So ... sorry to disagree with you!
Much more than just a bike ... cheap, healthy, sustainable transport for the masses ... helped to widen the gene pool after it's invention ... check the parish marriage registers!
Today's 3rd sample. I've been a student/artist of stereography for over 20 years. This work is a leap forward. Newsworthy, and not alittle. The internet and some backyard ingenuity have produced real, great 3D.
yt3d:aspect=4:3
or
yt3d:aspect=16:9
which ever works best

Have tried both but they actually make it worse ... atm, you need to click on the HQ link in the info panel to get the correct aspect ratio.

use StereoMovieMaker (free) to do alignment, and stereo window settings. Stereowindos settings has nothing to do with better quality playback.

Great stuff, I was able to free view this easily compared to the ducks vid. Looking through the spokes of the spinning rear wheel has a nice effect.
