Those "rebellious" farmers were almost all Revolutionary war soldiers who had never been paid in cash - even 5 yrs after the war. Certificates weren't cash, so they couldn't pay debts. The govt refused to issue paper money for that same reason too.
They were peaceful, not "attacking courts" When Sam Adams & the legislature made the Riot Act they put poeple in prison indefinatley & suspended habeaus corpus. Porr farmers couldn't vote or hold office.
The Mass Constitution of 1780 prevented them from being represented
Federalists & anti-fedralists wrote their arguments for & against the new constitution; u copied that, not history
Those govt officials supported the wealthy landowners & the rich merchants who sold - u guessed it - African slaves. The slave trade was run in the north in Boston, Providence, NY harbours, not the south.
They had no interest in farmers having a say in govt. That's y they wanted a new constitution.
The "farmer" at 2:34 is a stereotype made to show the farmers 'ignorance' & is a negative stereotype.
So while you think it's a joke that people fight in war, never get paid, then go to jail & lose homes to already rich people & when they do go to court they're ignored & and repressive laws like the Riot Act jail them & then some get hanged - that's not funny
Hamilton & others laughed when they bought those certificates for nothing & then under new constution made a fortune. & the farmers?
im not trying to be rude but DAMN give me a break i was only an 8th grader when i made this video and no i don't think its funny but i do think students would rather be interested in history than me producing a boring movie where they fall asleep and don't learn anything. Would i make this same movie now as tenth grader ...no but still i wasn't even thinking about stereotypes when i made this. PPl always have to try to find the negative in harmless videos....
And also in 8th grade they don't give you all the details. May i remind u ... Try making a short video with only an encyclopedia , a history book, and your research in less than a few months i didn't even know what habeas Corpus meant back then. let alone federalists and anti-federalists.
How do I know how old u r? I said you had your facts wrong & you do. That's why real research is important. A text or book isn't research, but it's a start.
But I agree it's good to make a video on history that's interesting. You might think telling what happened is boring, but if you actually look into the things I mentioned, the last thing you'll be is bored.
And also i agree this is an AWFUL VIDEO i wouldn't recommend using it for any information but please before you go hammering ppl in the ground at the least know what setting their coming from and the audience the video is meant for... was meant for...
And "they" never will. If you expect a teacher to tell you what to know, you'll never know the truth. You must learn to ask questions and seek real answers on your own. Like why would war vets organise to resist those laws?
If they don't teach you to research, y study there? Chomsky says memorising facts is the opposite of learning.
I wasted years believing nonsense by teachers. I was hard on you. Don't want to see you make the same mistakes I did.
Obivously, more research was necessary. Less than 10 men died in the actual battle with 2,000 volunteers, and all the men caught and put on trial with death sentences were released except for 2. America was never on track in the first place: the "rebellion" occured under the Confederacy, before the Constitution, during the reign of the Articles of Confederation.
Three died as a result of the Mercenaries fighting, and 2 were killed by the government. HOWEVER, this rebellion was one of the most important parts of history, as it put our government away from the articles.
oh yesss, the video we never got to watch in Mrs.Nelsons. yaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy shabamm. your a face. jasons a penis. im a chicken. rachels a hamster. :D yess I am quite bored

We watched this in our history class, everybody was laughing very hard during this video. Even our teacher snickered a little bit.
Good job nevertheless.
