i know exactly what you mean about the first few bowls not being great. i had a tin of solani 633 that was quite disgusting at first, but after letting it dry out and remoisturizing it, it became quite a treat. i also noticed it tasted better rubbed out as opposed to a flake
Beautiful setting Arko and really good match with the haunting music. I use the softy bits on all my pipes too, got a bag of 25 from an ebay seller in Canada. FVF is the next tin I am due to open. Have not had any in about a year so looking forward to it.
Arko, thanks a lot for showing me around. A beautiful place that for sure becomes even more inviting when it's filled up with childhood memories, when they build it's furniture. You can really see and I bet especially smell the spring coming walking through such a clammy forest.
Congrats to that Eltang design. I love it. Only I always find these silver applications to be a bit too much on the Stanwell Year Pipes.
@Ctz1H Eddy, thanks for walking with me! I like the furniture analogy, it's very true.
Yeah, the pipes is growing on me. You know, I've been thinking about the Stanwell silver plates myself lately ... In general I don't mind them, and I find that on some shapes they even look classy, but I see your point. Sometimes they can be a bit too much.
Hope you're able to breathe between your piles of books!
Thanks for sharing Arko! That looks like a lovely spot for a pipe walk. Very surreal with the waterlogged ground and the bare trees. You need to get a pair of fingerless gloves though! Very nice pipe. (Must_resist_PAD!!!) Eltang knows his stuff.
@Flieger671 Thanks for joining me, Mike. Yes, Eltang has a magic touch. But to be honest; at first I didn't really like the pipe. Looked sort of odd. But it has really grown on me, and I tell you, it smokes so well ... one of the best I've tried so far.
Beautiful walk, and thank you for sharing. It was quite realistic, so much so that when you walked over the little bridge and aimed down at the water running under it, I felt for a moment like I was going to fall in! I have long loved to walk in the woods with a pipe. It was in the woods behind my house as a teen that I first learned to smoke a pipe, and began a lifelong love for it. Cheers!
I was greatly impressed by this video (the background music was a perfect choice) and by your new pipe. What a beautiful piece, and what an exquisite landscape. It's important to have a forest associated to our childhood. I couldn't bear not having had the chance to wander in one when I was little, to feel nature all around me: the pleasure of a pathless wood, as Byron once put it.
@DailyPuffer Thank you very much, Bruno! I couldn't agree more on the importance of childhood forests. I grew up near several beautiful forests, the water, and even spend a couple of years on a farm, and I don't even dare to imagine what my life would be - my perspective on all things - if I hadn't had the pleasure of these things.
More nature (+ some history) will follow, I promise you that.
@harjoeric Hehe, you're very welcome, my friend. Blood has now returned to my fingers, so no worries.
Yes, Eno is a genious! Also check out his other ambient records. A great one is 'Apollo'. And he also made some excellent stuff with Harold Budd, like the album 'The Pearl'. And also 'Ambient 2: The Plateaux Of Mirror'.
@harjoeric Yes, you're right. I was also amazed by that when I first listened to it. Glad you like it. Somehow it fits well with your usual elevator muzak, doesn't it?
@herecomescharlie Thanks, Charlie. I'm planning on doing some more. There are several places that I'd like to share a pipe with you, my brothers of the Briar.
Great video, very enjoyable. Real peaceful and tranquil, beautiful countryside. Where is the location of this forest? Nice pipe too. I use softee bits on all of my pipes. I wouldn't smoke a pipe without them.
@EastEndPipes Thanks, Ron. I'm glad you enjoyed it! The location of the forest is just south of the city of Næstved in the southerne parts of Zealand.
Yeah, I could get used to these bits. Too bad they're not available here in Denmark. I need to find somewhere to order some.
great video !
