the red circle is a feature in his screen recording software(screenFlow).

the dock scaling feature is activated in the dock panel in system settings.

I've used linux for a while and I didn't use the desktops once.

what do you need all the spaces for? you could keep them all minimized and max them when you need it. spaces and desktops are just unnecessary gimmicks so fanboys can say: oh look mac can do spaces, biatch!
