Yeah, Madics you're right. This was my first time using them and I didn't know what I was doing. Last night when I was cleaning up I found an instruction booklet which show proper hand grip, direction and use. It even has a DVD! I'm going to watch that and get back to you guys. you wont burn many calories doing pushups . its good for building muscle, but not burning a lot of calories. it burns more carbs. maybe thats what you had in mind though. i know you wanna get your heart rate down. i think cardio is better for that.
Im not trying to burn calories during this fit-test. But UR absolutely wrong if you think that I didnt start burning calories at an escalated rate & as a result I burned 700 calories more than usual; Both from doing this workout and having an accelerated metabolism for the rest of the day.
I really wish people who weren't SURE of their advice would stop giving it. This is how mis-information spreads. Who told u building muscles does not burn calories? That burns THE MOST calories of all!
you might start burning some at 1st because you didn't do it much. but those are anaerobic workouts. not really made for burning much calories. if you burned a lot of calories doing this, that just tells me you were doing this a lot. anaerobic exercises dont burn as much for the simple fact that your heart rate isn't going for long periods of time. you are building muscle and muscular endurance, and i myself do these workouts,but i was just hoping these aren't all you do.
@BigBuzin, I know you mean well, but honey please Stop. You don't know what you're talking about. The anaerobic state is induced AFTER the aerobic state. When you exercise SO FAST and SO HARD that you escalate from Aerobic and enter An-aerobic where you are exercising hard and fast WITHOUT oxygen. Being in an anaerobic state can be good for short periods of time to build strength but is deteriorating physically if tried to maintain for longer. In short Anaerobic is HIGH INTENSITY w/o air.
cont. @BigBuzin, now what am I doing that is Anaerobic? And abt the calorie burn our body is trying to get into a state of fitness and I am SOOO out of shape that this 18 minute test made me burn 700 extra calories. So anybody who doesnt MOVE should be inspired to do so. As I get fit and heart beats better I will lose less cals from this. People lose LESS weight as they get closer to their natural body weight bcz their hearts r efficient & they are close to where their bodies want them 2b.
Lastly, I HOPE nobody thinks that this is my workout. This is merely a test that I will perform every week to demonstrate my fitness. Just because you mentioned that I will definitely do videos of my workout, which consists of 30-40 min of aerobics and 20-30 minutes of weight train 3x/wk.

just a misunderstanding. i saw you make videos before and this is all you were doing. im talkin last year. i too work out. and i've been working out since i was 16. i lost a lot of weight, about 40-50pounds in 7 months, and it sure as hell wasn't from these alone.
You saw me making videos in 2007?? Anyhoo if you mean my last fitness competition you saw me do videos of me jumping on a trampoline, jogging outdoors and lifting weights. PLUS the friday's fit-test to measure my fitness.
BTW, a 16 year old male's metabolism is going to me MUCH different than a 30 yr old female's... jut FYI ;-) And what works for one person wont AUTOMATICALLY work for everyone else.

Try leslie sansone's walk away the pounds DVD. Its very simple and it works out your entire body. I also have Denise Austins Boot Camp which is a little more advanced, but Ive found its easier as you just jump right in it. But I highly recommend those. I saw a difference very quickly in my body and how I felt.

The way my trainer taught me to do squats was to go low and stick your butt out like you're going to sit in a chair. And unless you have grasshopper legs there is no way to squat and keep your booty tucked it... that... and you KNOW I'm so well endowed! LMAO

I lose weight faster and feel more Healthy doing cardiovasular type exercises,Jumpimg rope works really well,in conjuction with running or fast pace walking,I wonder how many heart beats per minute is too fast,that may put one in the danger zone for cardiac arrest for those of us that are starting a work out routine for the first time in a while? bottom line,if one wants to lose weight for real, try skipping rope ,it works great,i lose weight fast and I drop a couple of pants sizes doing this.
I think you did a really good job! The fact that you showed how hard and/or discouraging it can get at times and still motivated yourself to finish is awesome. If you want a harder push up you need to elevate your feet on chair or bed or whatever you want and you can feel the different. The fitness band work too. It help build your arm muscle and other.

Do not be embarrassed at all. It takes just as long, if not longer, to take off the weight as it took to put it on in the first place. Keeping the weight off is your intent, I believe, and to do so properly you must lose it properly, meaning slowly and surely.
Lose the push up assistants. They are harder than the regular way.
Crunches over sit-ups any day. Doing them quick helps lose the stomach versus building thick muscle there which can discourage some women cause they actually start looking like their stomach is inflating the way they work their stomach.
Don't worry about the commentary while you work out. You should do each exercise and only let yourself recover for 30 to 60 seconds. Keep the heart rate up.
I actually like the push-up thingies they make it easier, and they relieve pressure on my wrists and support a clean natural movement for my hands during the push-up, so I am DEFINITELY Keeping them.

So anybody who doesnt MOVE should be inspired to do so. As I get fit and heart beats better I will lose less cals from this. People lose LESS weight as they get closer to their natural body weight bcz their hearts r efficient & they are close to where their bodies want them 2b.

Lastly, I HOPE nobody thinks that this is my workout. This is merely a test that I will perform every week to demonstrate my fitness. Just because you mentioned that I will definitely do videos of my workout, which consists of 30-40 min of aerobics and 20-30 minutes of weight train 3x/wk.
I may be out of shape now but I ran track & weight lifted in HS/college and I know A LOT about exercise, eating & training. So don't let the fat fool ya. Stay tuned u will see changes rt b4 your eyes ;-)

just a misunderstanding. i saw you make videos before and this is all you were doing. im talkin last year. i too work out. and i've been working out since i was 16. i lost a lot of weight, about 40-50pounds in 7 months, and it sure as hell wasn't from these alone.

You saw me making videos in 2007?? Anyhoo if you mean my last fitness competition you saw me do videos of me jumping on a trampoline, jogging outdoors and lifting weights. PLUS the friday's fit-test to measure my fitness.
BTW, a 16 year old male's metabolism is going to me MUCH different than a 30 yr old female's... jut FYI ;-) And what works for one person wont AUTOMATICALLY work for everyone else.

No, that wasn't last year darlin. That was earlier this year. I didnt start making videos till Nov 7, 2007. Before that I was a little hemmed-up. But thank you for being a loyal fan. Since you're so much in shape, why dont you do an exercise vid or two to show us how yu lost the weight ;-)

@bigBuzin, sorry to hear about the history of diabetes. And no I didn't start the fat@ss fitness challenge till the spring. I did do a vdieo about new years resolution in which I mentioned I wanted to go to grad school, exercise more, meditate more, buy land in the west indies, and TRAVEL MORE :). But no there was no workout series last year. I've only been on Youtube for a year. Check all of my videos you will see the first post was last nov. Trust me... who would know bettr'n me ;-)

Try leslie sansone's walk away the pounds DVD. Its very simple and it works out your entire body. I also have Denise Austins Boot Camp which is a little more advanced, but Ive found its easier as you just jump right in it. But I highly recommend those. I saw a difference very quickly in my body and how I felt.

The way my trainer taught me to do squats was to go low and stick your butt out like you're going to sit in a chair. And unless you have grasshopper legs there is no way to squat and keep your booty tucked it... that... and you KNOW I'm so well endowed! LMAO

I lose weight faster and feel more Healthy doing cardiovasular type exercises,Jumpimg rope works really well,in conjuction with running or fast pace walking,I wonder how many heart beats per minute is too fast,that may put one in the danger zone for cardiac arrest for those of us that are starting a work out routine for the first time in a while? bottom line,if one wants to lose weight for real, try skipping rope ,it works great,i lose weight fast and I drop a couple of pants sizes doing this.

If you want a harder push up you need to elevate your feet on chair or bed or whatever you want and you can feel the different. The fitness band work too. It help build your arm muscle and other.

Do not be embarrassed at all. It takes just as long, if not longer, to take off the weight as it took to put it on in the first place. Keeping the weight off is your intent, I believe, and to do so properly you must lose it properly, meaning slowly and surely.

Lose the push up assistants. They are harder than the regular way.
Crunches over sit-ups any day. Doing them quick helps lose the stomach versus building thick muscle there which can discourage some women cause they actually start looking like their stomach is inflating the way they work their stomach.
Don't worry about the commentary while you work out. You should do each exercise and only let yourself recover for 30 to 60 seconds. Keep the heart rate up.

I actually like the push-up thingies they make it easier, and they relieve pressure on my wrists and support a clean natural movement for my hands during the push-up, so I am DEFINITELY Keeping them.
